Looking for web hosting service that offers a reliable site backup/restore process

Hi everyone,

I am running a site that has some pretty important assets on it, and I am very concerned about the standard Cpanel backup/restore services that are available for users. In brief, they have never worked for me. This causes an enormous amount of stress to me. Right now I am using Hostgator and Hostmonster, and the procedures are highly prone to error and subject to complete loss of vital assets on the server.

My question is, is there web hosting service, or a type of platform, that I should be looking for that does not use the standard Cpanel approach, and has deployed a very highly reliable backup/restore process, that synchronizes a backup of both the database and files, and that can be quickly initiated and completed by the user? Thanks for the info.

Any host with r1soft CDP should be able to meet your requirements for a quick/reliable backup/restore process.

I agree and have used this. Cartika Hosting has this built into the end-user control panels. Their system give you access to all email, database, and files making it easy to restore a single table in a database or the whole thing, a single file or whole folder/domain etcetera that is maybe an hour or two old.

Thanks guys.

Is there a easy way to find web hosting companies that use the r1Soft CDP software?

How can I find the commands to use SSH backup/restore? I am not familiar with Linux and this would be new territory. I presume I need some SSH client on my PC.

Thanks again for the help.

Rich

To utilize R1Soft, you do not need any linux know now what so ever as long as the provider has the cPanel R1Soft CDP Plugin.

For a tour of R1Soft, checkout http://www.r1soft.com/linux-cdp/cdp-server-20/tour/

For an overview, checkout http://www.r1soft.com/linux-cdp/cdp-server-20/.

Hi,

I checked out Cartika. I don't think they have 24x7 phone customer support, which has been critical to my needs in the past. Correct me if I am wrong. I am in the U.S.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks.

I began going down R1Soft's partner list, and it looks like Hostway has both the R1Soft backup software as well as phone support. What is a reliable site nowadays to go to to find reviews on the hosting providers? Uptime and customer service is important to me.

Thanks for the links.

Rich

Any host that uses R1Soft backups should be able to give you what you need although the backup schedule and retention policy (how far back the backups will be retained) will vary from provider to provider so you should contact them directly for the details.
