Yet another anonymous reseller setup question

Hi,

So I have just received my first request asking if we have anonymous hostname / name servers.

At first I had thought that they meant where it just didn't show up to their clients, but then after some reading, it looks like everyone is just registering a second domain and using that for their nameservers and host names?

So to reiterate what was said, to make sure I have this clear....

I currently have ns1 and ns2.shfhosting.com.

I'd buy a domain and set the nameservers to be ns1 and ns2.webhosting.com?

And I'd do the same for the host name? server01.webhosting.com?

This is for cpanel if it makes a difference.

Well it is possible, You would advise the customer to create the nameservers with their domain registar and set them to your nameserver IP Addresses.

After that you just need to add that in WHM

Select "Resellers Center" > "Edit Privileges/Nameservers" and go to the bottom of the page. You then set the nameservers to the customers nameservers

Yes,
Instead of using generic names, its better to use private Namservers like ns1.hostingcompany.com. it is more professional.

you just have to create A records pointing to your server.

Yes, that's what people do to offer anonymous nameservers and server hostname

Sweet, I have the nameservers figured out. That all makes perfect sense.

On to getting a anon dns name for servers.

Good to hear that you have resolved it your self. If you are offering reseller plans to your clients its always good use the white labeled hostname too. As an example you can use server.xyz123.com instead of server.mycompanyname.com

It may be possible to use the real names (instead of your vanity name server names) of your reseller hosts server to achieve what you want.
This would be the name of the name servers you were using before you created your custom name servers in your reseller account.
