DirectAdmin and LXAdmin or Webmin = 64mb ram minimum

cPanel or Plesk = 256mb ram minimum(recommended 512mb+ ram)

I had a full installation of LXAdmin including MySQL server and the other usual suspects and that consumed around 130mb of RAM. This had 2 sites running on it at the time. I've since gotten rid of that particular server!

I'd say 384 is the minimum to run directadmin with lamp conig and 512 for cPanel, though 512 is really low for cpanel and issues may arise.

It's not really about the control panel at all. Apache + MySQL + Exim + SpamAssassin can be configured to run in about 130MB on any panel provided you only need to handle a small amount of traffic. Busier websites need a different configuration and more memory. The actual control panel scripts (cpservd etc) take next to no memory - differences between panels are almost entirely down to which applications they install and how they're configured.
