Speed is fine here, but of course... I may be biased. Been a softlayer customer for years, and am not a competitor with them. LOL

Yeah, if anything, it's a hair quicker for me, but really nothing noticeable.

Can't say I noticed anything speed wise prior to reading these news, so it's what I would call "fine".

That's odd. It's actually been loading quite fast for me today.

Speed has been great for me, too. Unless there is a magic server teleporter, I'm guessing WHT is running on brand new hardware too .
If you have to operate your company behind the scenes or under a fake name, maybe it's time to leave the industry and start something fresh.

    Yeah same from here.

SL's network is rock diggely dang solid. iNet will get good value if they're shifting over to SL.

WHT was faster. Did you move because WHT was hacked due to poor Rackspace security measures?

SL's network is significantly less secure and can not pass PCI compliance given the shared nature of their configuration. I wonder why they were chosen given the recent security woes.

It's not bad at all. But at times it does appear to load sluggishly. You may want to get rid of the powered by RackSpace at the bottem of the page.

Care to expound on the PCI requirements that make Softlayer not suitable for *any* e-commerce related endeavors? There's only a few billion dollars per year passing through their network.

Pages loading significantly faster on this end. Marked difference to my eyes.

SoftwareRevue stated in the other thread that WHT is going to stop accepting Credit Cards completely, and run all sales through 3rd Party Payment Processors. Consequently, they will no longer have to store any Credit Card details.

If your website accepts a credit card (even if processed through a gateway), then you fall under PCI requirements.

Correct, but by "3rd Party Payment Processors" I was referring to websites like http://www.ccbill.com/

In other words, during checkout, WHT would redirect your browser to a 3rd party website where you would actually pay for the product.

I haven't really noticed a difference and curious why the switch was made.

    Speed is great here too.

I don't imagine its permanent, unless iNET and RackSpace have had a falling out

    Probably to allow:
    a) All the data in the WHT cluster at Rackspace saved for any criminal and/or civil action
    b) New hard drives, new OS installs, new setup to remove any trace of any compromise(s).

most likely to allow the site to continue running while the entire environment is taken apart and put back together etc - nothing says it is a permanent move, and if the site ends up getting hacked again, i guess it would rule out any inside-job or physical access theories.
