This is unacceptable! My site has been inaccessible to myself and many others for at least 2-3 days now! All thanks to Sprint:

Can someone please tell me how to call up their NOC so I can b*tch them out? This is just really getting on my nerves... badly
Thanks
PS: I did contact my hosting provider (nodehosting), but they've been almost completely unreachable. I'm really disappointed and I am considering switching to another provider. So I called 800-291-0663 (their 24-hr emergency line) and I get some voicemail telling me that Frank is on personal business all week, and to please call 800-291-0663. Well, I CALLED that number and that's the message I got!! And they are not responding to emails. AAARRRGHH!!

Yeah, your trace is timing out, after you leave Sprint.

Sprint won't do anything for you... But changing providers might be a good idea. 2-3 days is UNACCEPTABLE.

First, he is trying to come to our network - and it was timing out at Sprints router - we were just informed of this from them today. Not sure why they did not catch this, and Other - you were not the only one with this problem. This should be resolved at this point where it comes completely to our network and would show our router as the timeout point depending on IP that you use.
Second, Sprint is VERY reliable, but for some reason routing tables have been jacked a little lately. We are working with them to correct this issue and figure out what is causing it, our end or thiers (not sure what we can do to cause it, but in this world anything is a possibility).
I am back from vacation taking care of some personal issues, and will work to get this kind of stuff back off the boards. This seems to happen everytime I try and take a vacation.....

Routing tables have been "jacked" a bit lately? What kind of operation are you running here? I'm sorry but that's unacceptable. Our routing tables never "get jacked". If they were, I WOULDN'T be taking a vacation.

My staff has been very reliable - and the Sprint thing I do not know much about. I am still getting to figure out why we were not notified, and why the problem existed so long.
Back to the staff thing. My staff is not in grade school, they are trained, and do know what they are doing, and know it very well. They had been very reliable until this past week (who knows what happened), and the vacation was not exactly a vacation, it was more of a personal matter that could not be avoided. I am calling it a vacation because I really do not want a whole lot of questions on it. If I had any doubts of them prior to my leaving, then I would of made other arrangements to make sure that the things were done.
The past issues I thought were resolved. We went under a new house of people, even brought in a partner to assume the majority of the operations because of things I am not able to be around all the time because of. I am sorry about all of this, and your right on the point that is comes down to there is a problem that needs to be fixed, but I got to find out where it is. Prior to my departure, they ran the company for a month and a half with no assistance from me, so that is why it baffles me to what happened.
Node does have issues, both internal and with the backbone structure. We left Qwest as primary because of continuous outage issues for thier "maintinance" that would come out to be about 5-30 minutes a night and moved to Sprint primary moving Qwest to secondary (until contract expires). This has only happened within the past 30 days, so things are still a little rough. They do a "mananged router" for us, so I can not say what the issue is with the IP's as we do nothing to route them or even work with the router of any sorts now.ICQ:176143736

Frank, maybe you can tell me why my site is STILL DOWN. After nearly FOUR days. http://www.samhulick.com. It used to be just me who couldn't get to it. Now several people cannot connect, I have a deal closing here, and my client can't get to my site.
I'm sorry, but you guys blew it.. you can't go on vacation on just vanish like that. Was the office unattended or something? I've left emails and phonecalls, not ONE SINGLE response. That's totally unacceptable. I work at a hosting firm (I don't host there due to conflicts of interest) and this would never ever happen. We take care of issues right away, and there's always someone there 9am-6pm who can resolve a problem.
I even called Sprintlink and tried to talk some sense into them and tell them a router was down, but they wouldn't talk to me. But upon second glance at last machine that's accessible on my traceroute (sl-nodeh-1-0.sprintlink.net) it looks like it's something within Nodehosting's network.
And yes, it looks like Nodehosting is a reseller for GKG (www.gkg.net). I could be mistaken though. Someone at Nodehosting did tell me they use Sprint & Qwest as their backbone, and if you do a traceroute to GKG, you'll notice those two show up in the route there--coincidence?
Maybe I should start plugging my boss's hosting business here.. it may not be $6/mo, but #1, he's got his OWN equipment.. Dell PowerEdges, Compaq Proliants, Cobalt RaQs, etc; #2, he's not using Sprintlink's backbone at all (he uses UUNET..very solid); #3, you probably won't find better support elsewhere. Only problem is, he can't compete with the guys selling hosts for $6/mo.. but then again, he's not reselling, so he has some pretty big costs to cover. I think the lowest he could probably do on a Windows 2000 server plan is $14/mo.
ANYway. I will probably be signing up w/ GearHost today and switching over. I really wanted this to work w/ Nodehosting, but it's been a nightmare. Sorry, nothing personal at all. I've just got to have my site UP... very important.

Yes, he had personal stuff to attend to. But there are other employees. Where the heck were they for the past five days?
My site is up because I've spoken w/ Frank and he resolved the issue.
Oh, and btw, you try to "chill" when you have a few thousand dollars on the line.Last edited by OtherMDesign; 11-02-2002 at 04:27 AM.

Your site creates a few thounds dollars per day? I find that hard to believe. If it is, then why dont you have dedicated server/raq ?

Ok, now I am totally insulted by you guys that are resellers trying to blast us, when you have not got a freaking clue as to what you are talking about. Here is to clear things up:
1) I got the problem resolved with the customer, and explained to him what happened. I could be wrong, but it is my impression that he is staying with us, and that his site is now visibile to everyone.
2) We are NOT resellers of GKG by any means. They are a REGISTRAR - Yes, we do not create our own domain, we do register them somewhere like everyone else, and that is where we choose to do it. We have, own, and operate our own servers on our own lines, as anyone in the Kansas City, Missouri area is welcome to come see.
3) We are not a one man operation. Any of our customers can tell you that. There are now 9 of us working for Node, 4 of which are front line that does answer the phones, 3 remote administrators, 2 for Administration that does nothing but billing and paperwork. This is not a secret by any means, and before you go blasting our company, maybe you should do research prior to making statements.
This board has gone to hell and a hand basket. For months we did not have one (1) single issue, or one hickup in service or downtime. Did anyone post anything good at that time? No. You all wait till you see a company with a problem then start blasting them making them look like the most unreliable piece of crap that there is. Between that and eveyone out here on these boards looking for hosting in the requests section wanting the world for $5 a year, how is a company to survive? You think you can really come here and research a company to see if you want to host with them anymore? Any company you look for there is going to be blasts anymore, 1/2 of which probably are not true. Then on top of that (already stated), NO ONE posts good about the companies that they are with, because the minute they do, they are called spammers, and promoting, when they are just trying to say something good to reverse the negative that they themselves probably posted a month prior, but now happy with thier hosts services.
Yes we compete against each other when it comes to business. But when you have no clue as to what is going on, why do you have to speak up, chime in, with knowing nothing on the situation? You guys are like vultures trying to kill the already killed, just to make yourself look good..... Yes, and I am prepared to backup what I am saying, look at my posts, I do not post on a company unless I have personal knowledge and fact of what is going on, and I will not hesitate to post good comments on another company if I see fit. Not just kick them when they are down.ICQ:176143736

I didn't say a few thousand a day. I'm a game composer, I make deals and sign contracts. I need my site up so they clients can access works in progress, and spec demos. If it's down, that's a bad thing and it looks unprofessional, and there's a potential to lose a client.

I will back up what Frank is saying. I talked to him for a while on the phone last night, and I know a reseller or "shady" operation when I hear one (I work for a hosting provider myself). Frank's company structure is similar to ours actually. He's got a small office with a handful of employees, and a closet full of servers.
I don't know what happened the past week, but whatever it was, Frank has resolved it VERY quickly, and that says a lot. Hopefully things will be more smooth from now on.
Thanks
