I am relatively new to cloud hosting/computing. I know that with many shared hosts you are limited to how many emails can go out per hour due to SPAM protection so the IP doesn't get blocked and screw everyone else on the server. Is this the same with cloud hosting?

Also, reading up on cloud computing/hosting, it seems like its designed for large scale calculations and application/program development. What is the benefit to hosting my regular old personal website on something like this? It seems unnecessary... Can someone give me some examples of what else "cloud hosting" or "cloud computing" is good for?

I think you need to start a few steps back, and learn about the hosting industry, running a server, simple web servers, simple server clustering, and then start worrying about cloud hosting or computing. It would have no benefit to your personal website, any small business website or anything of the sort. Try reading and searching through the forum some more, and check out the web hosting tutorials out there, books at the local store are helpful too.
