Don't forget everybody. It's Earth Hour Day. Turn on all electric devices between 8;30 & 9:30 PM tonight. Fans, lights, computers, A/C, heat, Self-clean the oven, burn some wood in the yard, boiling pot of water in the fridge, and take a drive for no reason. Mother Earth is depending on you. Set a goal, and live it!

As Leno said last night, didn't it use to be Earth Day? :|

Somewhere off in the distance, in a noisy old power plant a panicked engineer yells down to the shovelers - MORE COAL! MORE COAL!!
-
Happy Electricity Day! May it be the best celebration ever!

No need for an Earth day this year... we're going thru a recession. Every day is an Earth day.

I remember google turned their home page black once because they said it saved some enormous amount of energy. If, say, a gimmick like that continued on indefinitely, and then if every corporation, government, and other giant started to do similar things, wow, without any inconvenience other than a black home page carbon omissions might actually be cut by some sizeable amount!
But instead I'm supposed to turn my lights off? Hmm, sounds like I might help the earth as much as voting helps an independent.

Yep, we're actually behind schedule by a few years (for a The Day After Tomorrow event to occur) due to the recession.

Darn these scientists, one day they threaten us with global warming and the next with global cooling. I have my AC and furnace ready, 3 years of canned food, and 2 weeks of porn mags, bring it on.

I was reading an energy study recently that discussed the amount of power resources left. Our most used resource, oil, only has an expected 20-50 years of supply left. You'd think we would be making more effort to reserve a somewhat efficient power resource (although harmful to the environment). It's funny... I never thought in my life time we'd run out of oil!
I'll be participating this year for my first time. Yay me! *thumbs up*

Yeah, looking at the 2nd post in this topic, didn't it used to be just "Earth Day"?
Why the Earth hour day name?

Tesla motors is launching a $50 000 all electric coupe, Larry Page (Google) and the Paypal founder are investors in this company.

My lights are never on. My DVR records shows and about 2 times a week I'll watch all the shows I missed. All peripherals are off as I use my headset plugged into my G15 (I'm lazy and didn't plug it into the back). Other then the DVR I have a heater plugged in to keep me at 70ºF due to illness issues.
Guess I'm not consuming much!

Haha, I feel bad for being online right now. But I've turned off the furnace and everything else I can possibly find. All the lights in my house are off right now.

I had everything on. Central Air, Electric radiant heat in every room, oven self cleaning, dishwasher, didn't bother with ALL the lights (bit players in the grand scheme) The electric meter went from 4 RPM to 62 RPM, and audibly squeaking. (24,800 watts by my rough estimation)
Kept it on but the A/C couldn't keep up so I shut down the heat 10 minutes early.
I feel good about canceling out 10-20 hoax victims.
