    geeky things that you enjoyed

In the past gentlemen and possibly ladies!

*Browser Wars: Netscape vs. Internet Explorer
*Early 90's gaming consoles. Need subcategories!
-NES vs. Master System, Genesis vs. Super NES
    -Game Boy vs. Game Gear
-Bizzare addon devices - control gloves, fighting rings
-Endless stream of upgrades - Sega CD, Sega 32X, Sega Channel (these were mostly sega things)
    *BASIC programming. I love BASIC!
*Anyone can program something on par with professional software - word processors, games, etc. Everything was so simple (sort of). Few people can, alone, program a game on par with, oh, Battlefield 1942.
*Dial-in bulletin board things. You know? With the modems? All that's really left is textfiles.com
*In fact, almost everything from "way back" (by which I mean "a few years ago") that is related to computers. It's not fun anymore.
*The text only, monochrome computers at the library. They were so COOL! Now we have these boring Windows things.
    *Netscape Fish Cam
*Netscape the company being independant and producing a quality product
    *Netscape Sign Cam
    *Fewer ads on Internet
    *Crappy site design
*Dreamcast - Probably had the largest geek community of any console. Dreamcasts could easily boot a burned CD, and there were a lot of really nice (and legal) free things available for it.

    Now we're to the present!

ohhh must stop now before use up all you stuff!

Hmmmm, I hope the example about possibly ladies in the computing world (and on this forum) has changed over the last 20 years! The poll last year showed that there are some ladies in the house.

Come on guys, this is the 21st century.

(And I remember your comment Chicken! Why is it that when a women talks about computers men automatically question if indeed they are women? It's like if women questioned the manhood of every male who talks of Linux).

    BTW, AT, miss your sig.

(Just don't ask a lady her age!)
