    Lots of anime requests...

Seeing as I've had an anime site I've noticed a lot of anime requests today....and I know why...

Most of them have full episodes for download which are highly illegal and punishable up to a 10,000 dollar fine.

I have no solution to this since a lot of young anime webmasters make this mistake and they think its absolutely vital to have it on their site for some reason.

I was wondering though, how many hosts hear do actually notice that their anime hosted sites contain full episodes? How many warn the visitor? How many just delete them?

My theory is help the younger generation out and don't delete their sites right away. I've noticed them complaining some hosts have done so but I don't have proof so I will not accuse. That's my rant and I'm done. Now I'm waiting to be fed to the dogs .

so you want us hosts to keep their anime up for a little while longer just so that they won't complain about us????

that's not something i'd do, i'd report any illegal activity on any of my clients sites as soon as i find out about it...

I used to have an anime site and thought that Full Episodes were everything that I needed. The reason? If you look at most of the top anime sites they all have full episodes and so you think that you need them to keep up.

People don't go to the sites for the information, but the media.

Personally though, now I would alert the proper authorities about the action of the webmasters and let them be fined. They deserve it.

    Illegal=shutdown

If you have any doubt about how you should respond to illegal activity, ask FDC.

GOD NO DONT YOU EVER CALL ANIME A CARTOON!!!!! YOU WESTER LOVIN.... *breathes*

Anime is Japanese animation usually with large eyes and very emotional faces...

And please don't think of Pokemon or DBZ as real anime.. there's a whole different world out there full of good anime.. its just usually fairly expensive and half of it has yet to be translated

    Re: Lots of anime requests...

Change your post to the following:

I was wondering though, how many hosts hear do actually notice that their warez sites contain full version software? How many warn the visitor? How many just delete them?

My theory is help the younger generation out and don't delete their sites right away. I've noticed them complaining some hosts have done so but I don't have proof so I will not accuse. That's my rant and I'm done. Now I deserve to be fed to the dogs .

Illegal is illegal. If you don't own it, or have the right to distribute it, then it's your own fault if you do, then get deleted, fined or jailed.

Ahh...so this can be attributed to the FDC problems. I was tempted to ask the next anime enquiry where they found us...

ninji...you'll want to remove your last sentence before chicken wakes up....

if it's not illegal and they don't have proper rights, i'd still delete the content and more than likely terminate the customer's account. if it's not yours, you shouldn't be distributing it without written consent...

i've got to save my ass from my providers too...there's a lot of customers that think the hosts have the right to put anything they want on their servers, but guess what? we have a TOS from our upstream providers that outlines the content we can and can't put on our servers...

Heh, I was just about to bring that up.
Not all anime is licensed in the US: some series are only distributed through copies subtitled by fans.
All honest fansubbers drop a series as soon as it's been licensed, and send out requests for all their released titles to stop distribution. I don't believe that breaks any laws...?
(I'm not an attorney though, so I wouldn't know.)

But in the case of licensed anime such as DragonBall Z, then it definitely would be illegal. It's licensed material, whether it be anime or a Windows XP ISO.

I'm talking about 12 year olds who don't know jack about legal mumbo jumbo and stuff here though. I mean what they do not know is not their fault correct?

    here's a great example
    www.dbgtn.com

They have everything from roms and stuff. I'd delete them in a second without hesitation because obviously they know what they are doing. But if it's a young child who has no idea from what is right and what is wrong, what would you do?

NOTE: I'm talking about full episodes/mp3 files taken from the episodes and placed into mp3 format.

I'm not talking full cgi programs like dbgtn.com contains and roms which everybody should shut down right when they find them.

bad business practice.....but do what makes you happy.

IMO, if those 12 year old ankle biters are using their parent's credit card, and their parents know they are using it to buy a hosting account, then the parents are just as guilty, because really, you've got a contract between the legal guardian of the minor and yourself...

Delete it and give them a lesson. Just because they're young doesn't mean you allow illegal material on your servers does it? That's piss-poor if so.

    Nope, that's wrong.

thanks for the lesson guys . You guys are better than college learning .

Our professors theory is do not delete, try to negotiate with the customer and that didn't make sense if you allready had a terms contract up and everything.

Give them 48 hours to delete it and if they don't, suspend the account until they give in.
