    stupid stuff again

This is the second article I read that pissed me off.
    http://www.msnbc.com/news/822523.asp?pne=msn

The other was the nfl pen thing.

First off, I gamble online. Overall in the last few years, I am in the red(a lot less then I was). Two things that piss me off about this article.

    1. That women who got a 70k debt from online gambling then sued her credit card companies because gambiling was illegal in CA. THIS IS JUST BS. She cant take the damn responsibility, then she shouldnt be allowed anything. Its HER own fault, no one elses.

    2. That picture with 2 kids and a mom, who lost thousands on online bingo. The kids look all sad. GET OVER IT. Its not the online casinos FAULT. IT IS YOUR OWN FOR BEING A FOOL AND NOT STOPING.

    3. Yes, there was one more. The fact that they say it cant be regulated, and makes it looks like you will never when. First off, you are a fool if you do not go with a Casino you think that you can trust. I checked out mine, and I honestly trust them. I have won, big at times(later loosing most of it because I too can be a bad gambler, ) but it can be regulated just like other places with a third party who overlooks everything. And if you dont beliveme that you can win, look at the 565(started with 100) I cashed out last week, and the 1400(started with 50) I cashed out last year.

I will miss this, especially if they make it a federal crime which is in the works now, in the senate.

A freind of mine gambled online a couple of times. He mostly won. I wouldn't do it, because I just don't believe in it. I have a family to support and they come first. I wouldn't dare risk the adequete roof over our heads in hopes of living in a palace (or gutter) tomorrow.
But gambling can be a big problem especially when one is married and has a partner who's credit is being ruined along with his own.
Plus many offshore gambling sites are offshore for a reason. No regulation.
    DANG DANG! DANG!!
I know ***** ripped off everybody else, but they wouldn't do it to me.

You are a very smart man. When Im not at school, ie working and paying my own way, I dont gamble, simple because I cant afford the risk it brings, but I guess what Im getting at again, is that if you cant live with the possible consequences(sp) dont do it. As for your last statement, they are offshore because its illegal to operate in the US. They can "regulate themselves" like I said above. The casino I use, has Price waters coopers or something overlook all their stuff. I think its sortive like finding a webhost, you need to find a gambiling insitution that you can trust if you decide to do it.

Gambling is Addictive much like cig's, caffiene, cocaine, weed, drugs period, etc.

It shouldn't even be tryed one as you never know what effect it will have on you, all it is, is a big risk which shouldn't be taken as it isn't smart to risk your life, your car, your credit, your wife, etc.

Damn straight. The USA is supposed to be the land of the free. If people want to piss their money away on casino's, that's their own damn fault.

The goverment needs to realize that they can't legislate stupidity.

I've only done minor offline betting. Buy a few bingo cards, play a bit on a slot machine, get a lottery ticket etc. My basic guideline is that I never bet more than I can afford to lose. I assume I will lose it. lol

If I DO win, I tend to at least set aside what I started out betting in the first place and maybe play around a bit more with what I won. I do like to quit ahead though, so if I win something substantial, I quit. Best I ever did was winning $2000 in bingo once.

I don't think online games should be banned, but there should be some rules and regulations to how the games need to be run and some sort of way to licence things so you can know you are dealing with a reputable place.

im not a gambler, personally i feel the only people that win are the casinos \ bookmakers. as an experiement a few years back i put 100 GBP into an online betting account and had a flutter onthe soccer results. pick 3 winning teams out of the matches, dead easy i thought. you even got back 3-4x the bet. i guess i got lucky cos i won several weeks on the go, then got real and grabbed the money and ran. i got very very lucky, plus in sport theres some chance, its harder to rig. casinos arent gambling, theyre entertainment and you pay and pay big to be entertained.
people who loose money gambling have no one to blame but themselves, cruel i know, but it isnt up to the govt to mother you though life banning everything that could possibly be negative. people want the right to freedom they have the responsibility to make the right choices. anyone with kids who looses thousands on bingo and gets into massive debt should seriously rethink their position as a parent.

edit : well said skelly nicely summed up.

Basically gambling is one of the most profitable online sectors ... so is porn .. but I'm making the choice to stay away. Sure I can probably make 5 times more than I'm making now ... but I guess it's a matter how deciding how you personally want to live your life.
