Shared Hosting - IP vs Name Based
Hi All.
I do some design and resell hosting on a small scale (25 sites). Currently, my provider uses the ensim cp and all accounts are IP based.
I'm thinking of moving and have the choice of offering my clients either IP or name based virtual domains.
With the exception of an IP address being blacklisted, what is the difference between IP and NB domains.

None. A dedicated IP is only needed for an SSL certificate and for anonymous ftp.

ServerSpotCheck - Is your website down?
Skimpylink - Not as tiny as some but much cuter!

A HTTP 1.0 browser cannot view name based hosts. HTTP 1.1 browsers can tho. This is the same for any spider or any sort of application that does not know how to talk HTTP 1.1.
But if they can't talk HTTP 1.1 then you really don't want to talk to them anyway..BEN HALSTED, Developer :: WebGroup Media LLC.
