    Entry-level server $79/month

    Hi all,

I just found these lists. Hopefully I've got the board etiquette down. This deal is ideal for those with light requirements (secondary mail/DNS services, small web sites, etc).

After a recent promotion, I have *one* server left over in our Canadian datacentre that I'd really like to see utilized.

    The server specs are:

    1U Celeron 1.2GHz
    Intel 815E Server MB
    Intel 82559 NIC
    Maxtor 60GB HDD
    256MB RAM
FreeBSD, NetBSD, Linux, ... -- You specify.

For $50 setup, $79/month, or $899/year, we can do the following:

    Dedicated server rental (as above)
    10GB monthly bandwidth ($7/GB thereafter)
    UPS feed
    99.9% guaranteed network uptime
(Average for past year is ~99.95)
One static IP (additional for $4/month, as justified)
Toll-free Technical support in Canada and the US

    More information about us:
    http://www.sasknow.com/

(Note that you won't find this deal on the web site)

I only have *one* of these servers left, thus the special offer. Please feel free to contact me for more information, or to express an interest. I'd like to work with someone whose needs are a good fit for this package.

    Thanks,
    - Ryan

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Yes, I'll admit $7/GB is somewhat high. In this particular market, though, that's actually quite good. Obviously it gets cheaper with high volumes. When we started up in '99, the local telco was teh only game in town at $.028/MB plus a $1200 base price for a T1 (I still have the original contract somewhere Now WCom, Sprint and a few others have decent builds here, so things are getting cheaper. Prices haven't crashed here like they have in the US.

That being said, I still think that $79US for a 10GB dedicated machine has considerable appeal for the large crowd out there that needs secondary services, smaller specialized web sites, etc. It just may not be a good fit for *your* needs. And obviously, prices go down as volume goes up.

    Thanks,
    - Ryan

    Hi Jolly,

Regarding control panels, currently we offer Webmin standard (I know. Save your flames, please ), or as part of the install, we'll install any compatible CP you provide a license for.
