Thumbs down Is your telnet really slow? I want to switch company.

Between a dead turtle and my telnet session, i'm not sure which one is slower.

i'm currently with this hosting company. they're great and i like them. The problem is their telnet is so damm slow. I type in a word, it doesn't show up on the screen until 5 seconds later. It's so slow that the cursor is always one sentence behind.

I want to switch company. Anyone know any good hosting for under $10 that has decent Telnet connection?

I think you should ask for SSH, not many web hosting companies offer Telnet now.

If this is important to you and you're going to look for another host then it would be advisable to ask for an IP to check the ping times from where you are.

If its a decent ping time then your SSH should be more responsive

    What is your location?
    Where is the server at?
If you ping the server, what response time and do you get any timeouts?
If you type "uptime" once you are in telnet, what do you get?
