Semi new design for our site that is constantly changing.

I'm not sure how much people critique on here or how much advice is given since this is my first post and visit to the forums, but I'll list some of the known issues I'm working on.

site is best viewed at 1024x768 or higher and on Internet Explorer. I'm usually on 1280x1024 myself with IE 5+ Win98.

(man I can't see how people can stand to use 1024x768 or less anymore myself)

Seems to work fine IE 4.0+, Netscape 4.7, and partially work (see below) on Netscape 6.2 on a PC.

Currently here are a few design and coding problems that I am trying to work on.

[1] Netscape really crawls with nested tables. Since our site is intense on nested tables it is a real problem and needs to be fixed. Anyone know if putting ROW and COL tags will help speed this process up in Netscape?

[2] Netscape 6+ crashes anytime it connects to our secure server via a GET method. I'm still stumped on this one.

[3] Netscape 6+ doesn't seem to do a GET method for some strange reason or at least pass the variables like it should. Anyone know if there is a work around for this or even a bug that has been posted? I just installed 6.2 and can't seem to get a GET method to work correctly, although a POST method will work fine.

[4] Netscape on Mac crashes or is REALLY sluggish...My guess this is due to huge amount of nested tables and Netscape just seems to drag a** when it comes to tables.

[5] The catalog section needs to be toned down to only allowing X number of hits per page on search requests instead of allowing the whole thing to show. This is probably a nightmare for guys on a regular modem.

I'm not a professional web designer so I'm still trying to learn most of the basics in order to keep our site compliant with every freaking browser out there (which is sooo much fun This is my first site, 2nd revision.

Any recommendations or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Just letting you know that I took a survey sometime ago about screen resolution that my visitors use, about 50% ended up using 800 x 640. Thus, you should design webpage that suits at least for 800 x 640 & up.

actually I think in general 800x600 is still around 80% or so of browsers - not confirmed..

Strangely enough for someone concerned about having the site tested on larger resolutions, it appears ok at 800x600 (IE 5.5, Win 98) The only issue for me was the menu on the left dropped off screen just after the Real Audio - mixes online link. You can just see DJ's poking up from the bottom.

I wasn't too fussed with the color scheme but that's more a personal opinion than a design one. There's obviously a *lot* of work gone into setting that thing up, which may a little too evident from the front page - it's very busy... Maybe you need to break the site down a little into more easily digestible chunks. A good example would be http://www.tower.com I shop there most days, and find it a simple site to go into, find what I need and poke order buttons.

Your logo seems a little unclean due to compression and design though - not easy to remember in the back of your mind.

If that really is your first site, you're to be commended on it though. A very good start, and probably not too much work to get it to being world class.

I like the "loading, please wait" backgroud, that is a nice touch.

I agree the front page is pretty busy. there are a lot of songs in one place. It is pretty hard to read and I'm at 1024x768

I make all my site to work the 640x480, but there are a lot of big sites that don't worry about poor people with small monitors. So I think I'm going to start making them for 800x600.

Nice town by the way - I miss Seattle... had a lot of fun in WA State when I was there.
