Too many people with >1000 posts!

Heh. I see three threads on the front page of this forum by people who just hit 1000 posts. For some reason it just seems like a lot. Maybe we should consider raising the 500 post barrier?

BTW: congrats to UH-Matt, CritticAge and zdwebhosting for getting 1000 posts!

Not to be rude, but I find it a little scary when someone has been registered for a month and has 500+ posts.

I'm not really concerned about custom titles, but I think the total required post count should be lower. I don't think sheer volume of posts is a very good yard stick for which to measure contribution.

I would suggest using a certain number of posts and/or a certain time, but I doubt VBulletin supports that.

I'm assuming you're referring to Ned Patter? Yes, I was here, although I sometimes don't visit for weeks, when I'm here I read a lot, I'm just very selective on what I post about. If my opinion is already represented, I typically won't post unless I'm really annoyed by something.

And yes, Ned is certainly a character, the sad thing(IMHO) is he's supposedly a member of higher education, such as myself.

LOL @ UH-Matt, that's my point exactly. Who really wants to read more of my opinions anyways?

That is actually a good idea. Not only, would it stop members from trying to reach 500 posts (not that there's anything wrong with that) but, we would probably see a lot fewer announcements of #### posts and such (not that thereis anything wrong with that).

    No I think it wouldn't.

There would not be so much attention drawn to post count. IMHO

Lets compromise, 1500 sounds good, surely...?

Some people just spam the lounge in blatant attempts to increase their post count, though...

What if the moderators deduct 100 posts from members making pointless posts to get their count up....

Damn and blast...just lost 100 posts!

This has been discussed many time before, but Ill share my personal secret of WHT.

I really think if people took a moment to read over the posts they write and think "Does this really need to be posted" this wouldnt be an issue. I read these boards daily, I have since the beginning. I have probably typed out 1000+ responses to posts, but learned this lesson early on.... as with everything in life, if its not constructive, why post it? Im not going to waste your time having you read my empty posts with "I agree" or " " Of those 1000+ posts I actually take the time to respond to, Ive only submitted 250. Yeah, that says something. I have a response to most hosting related questions. Ive been around for quite a while, but sometimes you can only be so repetitive.

    But thats just me.

why make a point of discussing this if you dont like high post counts then.. let it pass .. let people post what they want.. this is a discussion forum not a court of law.
