I don't go criticizing Chaps, but take a closer look at both templates. You'll see elements of both FastWebSite.com and the PredictiveDialer.com sites. I think whoever buy this templates will be wanting an original design, not something copied from PixelBrick.
I certainly don't mean to nag everyone, but I have to mention something like this, if the designer of this template wants to argue the fact that the templates do not have elements of PixelBrick design on them, than it's his prerogative, and if I'm in the wrong, I won't continue to throw mud at the designer, I'll accept that I was wrong and apologize full-heartedly.
its a fine line. however, humanity has advanced by building on things already achieved. ive done some graffiti writing in my time, and i can certainly say that even though i have my own original style, ive been inspired countless times by things others have done, thought them over and incorporated my interpretation of them in what i was doing.
the color scheme on #1 is somewhat similar, but that isnt bad in any way - he liked the colors, he used them, they work.
as for #3, the separator was inspired, the rest is his, no biggie either.
if you look at the works as a whole, they are original, imho. noone should be afraid to build on something they like, provided they dont blatantly rip the whole thing, which he definitely didnt do.
He didn't blatently rip anything, which is why I didn't yell "Blue Murder" at this, I could have gone outright and called him a site ripper but I know he hasn't done that.
However we managed to pick the inspiration on PixelBrick and the person buying the template will no doubt have clients complaining that the site is based on PixelBrick which is why anyone would be cautious to buy the template.
If I'm still wrong, and you can prove it without doubt, I'll buy all three templates.
However, nothing legally wrong with inspiration so I wish him well in selling. But I do think its fair that people like fazel bring up what they look to be copied from, as any interested buyer has a right to judge for themselves the originality in the design.
Besides any similarities, i think the templates are great.
I also think that this thread has gone way off subject. It's rude how everyone has been posting on the fact that it looks similar to another site, and overlooked the fact that these are great templates and i'm sure he worked very hard to make them. Now that everyone has ruined this thread, i'm sure it will be hard for him to sell his work. If someone has a problem with his templates, you could have pm'd him about it, which would have been a lot more constructive for him and for his thread.
no, its important that people know about the similarities to other sites. if you see the similarities and dont care, well thats great. but if you do care about the similarities, how cheated would you feel if you bought the template and then found out how similar it is to another site?
PPbrad> No one is intending to be rude here. It just comes down to letting possible buyers know of all the info. Its unfair to say we should PM him. He obviously knows who he was inspired/copied from. Its potential buyers that deserve the right to know such things.
