What is the cost effective way to offer Oracle on a shared web server?

i dun think there is.. the license for using oracle is something like 8000$ right?

They also license oracle by the Mhz.

Last time I checked, it was somewhere around $15 a Mhz for CISC machines (ex. if you had a 500Mhz PIII it would be $7500) and $25 a Mhz for RISC machines (ex. if you had a 500Mhz Alpha it would be $11250)

Crazy stuff.

Also, now Oracle doesn't even do phone support for their basic service. It's email only. Of course, no basic service is included in the above prices.

We're all in the wrong business!

All I did was point out that the Oracle license was very expensive... which you also put in your post, so I assumed you might have seen mine and replied to it. I still don't know where the post went... no biggie though.

Have 800 customers, all using Oracle Databases, connect to the server and it will only be $10 a user...very cost effective if you ask me .

This does not seem very cost effective to me. If a company needs Oracle that bad then they can probably afford to get their own license.
