Yeah Seagate is pretty good I have some really old Seagate drives that still run pretty good.. I would say as long as you go with a decent name you should be ok ie: Seagate, Maxtor, Western Digital.

Seagate makes very reliable drives, I have one around here that runs like a champ and its nearly 5 years old. I have never really heard anything bad about their drives. However the price you listed is a little cheap, I can get you a 60GB 7200 RPM Seagate for that much.

Instead, print this page:
http://www.compusa.com/adproducts/html_ad/default.asp
take it to CompUSA and get yourself a Western Digital 80 GB 7200 RPM SE drive with 8MB cache (instead of 2MB) from CompUSA for $80.
But you've got to hurry, it expires at closing on the 12th.I thank my Lord for all His wonderful blessings.

<-- canada =(
no compusa here
i would ask hostpath or someone who has a compusa near them to go get one for me and then i could paypal them the $80 + shipping but it closes on the 12th, so i dont think anyone would do that for me.

Last time I used a Seagate drive was a few years ago (850 MB). The jumpers were horribly set up and unintuitive, and when I left my computer on at school over spring break there must have been a power surge or something, because it killed the drive. However a Western Digital 4.3 GB I had still worked fine (and still does in an old system).
Current HDD is a 20 GB Western Digital 7200 RPM. I'm pushing the capacity but I can't justify an upgrade.Get your web design questions answered: Web Design Forums at http://www.turtletips.com/forums/ ; vBulletin Board of the Month.

Haven't had any problems with Seagate drives, I have found them to be very reliable.

oh, another good thing about SeaGate's in my own opinion... they are 'incredibly' quiet. The 60 gig in my desktop virtually doesn't make a sound when it's being accessed. If there's a long load happening I sometimes find myself looking to make sure I see the hard drive light blinking

Here's an even BETTER deal, IMO:
Buy this WD 120 GB 7200 RPM hard drive for $198.00 from Dell online and get $100 back. If you look, you should be able to find a 15% off online discount code. That means you get 120 GB hard drive for around $70 when its all said and done...

I cant speak for their IDE drives, but I have been a user of their SCSI drives for a long time (though not in my personal systems) and they are great.
