Man Dies After Playing For 86 Hours Straight
Oh my god...has anyone seen this yet?
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/...061260831.html
That guy basically played in an Internet cafe for 86 hours straight before he died. Has anyone here ever played for close to that long? How did you guys feel after staying awake for 48 hours straight?-Mooneer

hmmm
Wow this guy takes the cake. Although game addicts playing for hours does not seem to be unusual these days. My friend owns an internet cafe and I have seen people who would go as much as two days straight playing games without standing up or taking a rest. Business was so good that she decided to offer sandwiches and set meals for those too busy to simply stand up and eat. She is making quite a killing with that as well
Now whats next? Dextros on the special menu?

I'm trying very hard to not do something like that at the moment. Just got 'Mafia' and am enjoying it way too much.
It makes you wonder what game he was playing though. 86 hours is an amazingly long time to do *anything*, much less sit in a chair playing a video game.

I've had a friend who chatted in the IRC for more that 30 hours straight. He only ate one small pack of biscuit to strengthen himself.

seems to me like another "blame the internet" story
what else was this bloke doing apart from sitting at the computer ?
it says he hardly ate .. so, what's that mean ? some sort of speed ?
you'd really need some kind of chemical to stay awake .. no one can stay awake for 86 hours
be interesting to see the autopsy results

It definitely sounds quite strange. Whatever was he playing anyway? It could have been a factor in his demise...

well i dont think devotion is the right word either... or maybe stupidity mixed with devotion...
i think there must've been something else there.. 'cause shouldn't the body's defense mechanism stop him before he dies??? It's like you can't just stop breathing and drown just because you want to... right?

There had to be a drug or substance involved. Even if he shotup with cafeine every once in awhile, that would put him to sleep quite quickly. I am very interested in the autopsy results.
