this may belong in the technical forum, but i wanted to see if any shared host customers or shared hosting providers are having this issue:
i have a very good host, and i'll leave his name out of this as he's pledged to work on the issue. This is not a rant.
the issue is this:
for about three months now, i've had email not reaching certain other users on the same server as my SMTP/site. This would result in *no* bouncebacks, nothing. it just never got delivered to recipient or they would get it and i would get no reply.
i was told this was a "cpanel issue that could not be resolved as Cpanel had no workaround" and that i should switch off Ensim (the panel i was on). I thought (and still think) this is not right, but decided to not fight it.
So, in following advice of my host, I switched off Ensim to a new server and Cpanel, and voila. I can talk to those folks again.
however, now it seems this same problem has appeared again. it's now when i send email to the host/support center/host's personal website, of all people... the support team and the owner of the hosting service receives the mail and replies but i don't get the mail. he gets no errors and/or no bounceback. the only way we discovered this was when i started to get salty about lack of service--it was truly out of character for my host not to respond to a ticket... and the problem started the minute i was resolved to this new server several days ago.
According to my research and host's research, MX record checks out fine. DNS checks out fine, and I communicate with other offsite users with no problem, including people on the same server at this same host (but on different sites).
Has anyone else had a problem with certain sites on their servers losing email between other sites on their servers or anything similar to this? I ask in the hopes i can help my provider find a solution as well (he is looking into it now but so far can't find an answer).
Check your main directory and see if they are in there.. There were some issues with Ensim where some emails were getting stuck in the main site root directory. Ensim did release a fix for it which took care of the problem. That could be your/your hosts issue.
