    Help ! Traceroute issue

    Hi,

I've a win2k box. Suddently it has stopped responding. I was said that hardware is OK (and NIC connected to switch) and told i killed Win2K networking settings, which i didn't...

What can be the problem ? When I make a traceroute, it does not ends on my IP, it either ends on:
    * * *
    or xx.xx.xx.xx (the switch IP) 114.413 ms !H 114.701 ms !H 114.496 ms !H

do you know what means !H ???

    Thanks

Other possible annotations after the time are !H, !N, or
!P (host, network or protocol unreachable), !S (source
route failed), !F-<pmtu> (fragmentation needed - the
RFC1191 Path MTU Discovery value is displayed), !X (commu-
nication administratively prohibited), !V (host precedence
violation), !C (precedence cutoff in effect), or !<num>
(ICMP unreachable code <num>). These are defined by
    RFC1812 (which supersedes RFC1716).

    this should help.

its in the "man traceroute" on your std linux box.

I believe he mentioned win2K box

I would recommend to get someone login to the box physically and try to ping outside the box to check the network setting.

Hope that everything is solved very soon,

I've seen this happen on win2k boxen using those lame personal firewalls or whatever they're called. But then I don't touch win2k boxes, so I'm not speaking from direct experience.

Thanks all for your answers. In fact there was *only* a power outage on the box.
