Talking Any RAQ550 CMUImport Success stories

Anyone used the beta CMUImport version 2.41 from ftp://ftp-eng.cobalt.com/pub/users/jeffb/cmu/beta yet?

We're looking to migrate from a RAQ4 to the new RAQ550 and would like some input before investing some time and money.

Well, I wouldn't say it was a total success, but we managed to move 350 sites from a Raq 4 to the 550.

First thing, make sure the cmu version of your raq 4 matches the version on the 550 - this means they will both be BETA. The "stable" Raq4 version exports into a format the 550 cmu can't use!!

What are some of the problems you encountered?

I remember back in the RAQ3 to RAQ4 days, mail forward did not work correctly, users w/ dots failed, siteadmin did not transfer over and other crap. Anything funky in the new CMU?

    Hmmm, lets see....

The first attempt to mass migrate failed - the user accounts came over (mostly), but none of the data from the site contents came over. So, we removed the sites and then imported a smaller number at a time. That worked.

We then found that none of the DNS settings could be moved, so we had to do this on manual.

Finally, as the "catchall" mail accounts are different on the 550 (no @www.domain), so they all had to be reset.

In our situation, with over 300 sites to move, it was a bit of a nightmare and involved an overnight shift to prep, transfer and recover. Hopefully you have a smaller number to move.

    Paul
