bandwidth monitoring.. 95th and actual
No, this isnt another "What is the difference between", hehe.
Anyway... I am using MRTG and this 95th.pl script I found on the contribs section of the site for monitoring bandwidth on a few dedicated customers of mine.
What I am wanting to know is...
What alternatives are available to this setup? I am interested in being able to calculate 95th and actual transfer on a PER PORT basis on a Cisco switch.
I have my eyes on RRDtool and its various frontends as faster and more comprehensive alternative to MRTG.. but..
Is there anything else I should be considering?
Something was circulating nanog the other day concerning this:
"Bytes/s * (86400 * $days_in_month)" for actual usage
"RRDTool is *very* flexible when it comes to displaying anything. Usually it does auto-sizing. Try something like
rrdtool graph $output --units-exponent 9 ...
If this doesn't help try [email protected]"
Can it do 95th as well? I wonder what the ISP's out there use?
FHDave where are you?
