Smart thinking on their part, if they know their server goes down a lot. But if they keep their server seperate from everything else, got to make you wonder..

We are having problems with one of our sites hosted here also, but the others are up.

We thought the DNS issue might be from our ISP's DNS cache? Or is HP causing the DNS cahce at our ISP to be corrupted?

My site has been down since last night. I figured that Kevin was such a jerk that he probably deleted my account. Especially since I can't even access my file manager. I was going to save about 3 pages on my site last night into my editor because I figured at any moment he's going to pull the plug because he's a liar, a cheat, has NO integrity and gutless. He takes no responsibility and is not a man because he won't stand up to his problems. He's treating his customers like DIRT, deleting their requests for help and support on the hostpacket forum. I'm tired of having a host who is not available for support.

Agreed, this Kevin guy is crazy....looks like he joined the industry and the money, not realising that you actually have to provide a service for the money...

seems like a DNS issue with ns4.hostpacket.net because i don't get a reply from that, but this is what i get from ns5:

    ; <<>> DiG 8.2 <<>> @ns5.hostpacket.net flarf.com
    ; (1 server found)
;; res options: init recurs defnam dnsrch
    ;; got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: SERVFAIL, id: 6
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0
    ;; QUERY SECTION:
    ;; flarf.com, type = A, class = IN

    SERVFAIL. yey.

Looks like there's problems all across the board today. Good luck, Kevin. Sheeeesh.

I escaped too many problems with the hostpacket.net fiasco back when they had to switch around name servers.

I was not on the server they lost because of the spammer issue, so I was only down while the DNS change went through. My site has been up all along.

As of today, however, it's down. I saw that it was a DNS problem, but I wonder if this is the beginning of the end. Kevin has not gotten anything fixed for awhile...

I don't know how the DNS thing works but I have my domain name using Namecheap's nameservers pointing towards the IP at Hostpacket and my site is still down. Can it still be a DNS problem?

I can't even access my FTP.

My site has been down for over 24 hours now - outrageous but enough is enough, I shall be leaving them now.

I ran DNSReport on my URL, http://www.dnsreport.com/

The response back was that the name servers are not responding,

    NS4.HOSTPACKET.NET. [216.127.82.107] [TTL=172800]
    NS2.HOSTPACKET.NET. [64.246.42.67] [TTL=172800]

When I ran it a couple of hurs ago, NS4. HOSTPACKET.NET was not responding and NS2.HOSTPACT.NET was lame. (I don't remember the definiton of a "lame" DNS, but it sort of fit the rest of hostpacket.net ).

That's it, I'm out of there now - no more Hostpacket for me. No one should have to tolerate such an appalling service.
