We are doing a massive upgrade to our hosting business. We are deciding to go from Alabanza to our own servers and Sphera or Cpanel/WHM.
We know a lot about Sphera, and the fact that its VDS technology, its automated, billing is incorporated into it, ticket system etc.
I do not know a lot about CPanel. Does this solution have automated setup? Billing? What does that do? Can we set up our merchant account to do seamless transactions without using paypal or 2checkout? Ticket system? How much does it cost.
I notice a lot of the boards users have this solution so maybe you can help out with our decision.
I posted this earlier today. If you want to become a large host then Sphera is it.
We chose Sphera for 3 main reasons.
1) Extensibilty - Sphera has a very complete API that is based on XML. Almost every aspect of the platform can be customized. This allows us to provide customers with their own automated sign up forms, reseller sign ip, even accounting functions.
2) Flexibility - VDS customers can be upgraded to there own server with one click.
3) Scalability - Every server running the Sphera software has the ability to participate in a Sphera Cluster. The cluster allows us to maintain the individul vds's seamlessly from one control panel.
The end user benefits from painless migrations, way more control over their hosting environment and isolation from from other vds customers on the same computer.
The other really neat thing about Sphera is that each vds can be configured to host multiple domains and sub-domains (Not just pointers). Traditional hosting companies want to charge you separately for every domain you host.
