Question Top datacenters (?) vs NAC

Hey. I'd like to what are the world's top datacenters and how do they compare to NAC. I really haven't got a good idea about the datacenter world (which ones are good and which ones are not), but pinging to my IP in NAC was the fastest I ever got!

    Thanks!

he.net is good as well. alot of people are quite fond of rackspace however im not exactly super impressed with them. of course there is internap which has some great bandwidth. thats pretty much all the ones that i would trust mission critical services on.

so you'd say the top datacenters are:

    - he.net
    - rackspace
    - internap
    - nac

? wow that's great (for me, since i got on nac

To name a few that I've used:

    www.epoch.net
    www.peer1.net (Canadian)
www.q9.com (Canadian, but much better than most American DC's)

Once again, I have past experiences with all of the Data Centers I just listed. All of them provide stellar quality and service...

NAC is great. I get emails every week from clients praising the speeds they get from NAC. Although it just depends on where you're from etc. Had a couple of clients requested to be moved to our server in HE.net, because they got better speeds etc. Both have good connectivity and deliver good speeds...

Nope, not that I know of.

Q9 does infact sell dedicateds, but they are outrageously expensive.

Actually a while back when I had sapce in q9, I was thinking about selling a few dedicateds as special offers here at WHT, but then I scrapped the idea.

Are you only wanting to compare datacenters on bandwidth quality?

I agree. A sloppy DC is a turn-off. I think how the inside of a data center looks, reflects on how a company runs their business.

Also, I've just recently discovered that multiple bandwidth providers is not as important as a well-run datacenter. For example, Peak 10 in Jacksonville, FL only has 2 or 3 bandwidth providers, yet they have less problems than some of the DCs that boast many more connections. Same with Inflow. Inflow may be as good or better than Internap, though they have less connections.

I wouldn't call nac sloppy at all. Most of the pictures you see that you call sloppy (the open racks) are individual customers co-lo racks who have everything from rack servers to towers in them. Just because the customer leaves a wire or two showing doesn't mean that nac is bad or poorly run.

Sure they could probabbly go in and give out codes to their co-lo clients regarding how things look but as long as its kept up and nothing is being done thats dangerous then I don't see too much of a fuss...

Also, you have to remember that they maintain two colocation areas, basic and enterprise.. if you want "neat" then look at the enterprise area, if you want functional without the plastic wrap then look @ basic

yea basically bandwidth quality... Unless I get the server directly from the datacenter, but that doesn't happen very often does it? anyway, I'm not planning to colocate...

Are you looking for available providers, or general overall connectivity?

For instance, you could argue that Equinix datacenters are among the best because they have better connectivity than any other datacenter -- but you don't automatically get that great bandwidth when you colocate there, you have to negotiate with the providers.

If you are looking for a setup similar to NAC, Colo4Dallas is supposed to be really good. InterNap has already been mentioned, Inflow is really good. For sheer presence WorldCom and C&W are both good -- their data centers only have a single provider, which is bad, but the size of the backbones mean that you will get a good response from just about anywhere on the Internet.

Talk to Voxtreme (http://www.voxtreme.com/) they are in the Colo4Dallas datacenter and offer Dedicated servers. Their response and uptime has really been good.

I'm in a server in NAC, and I was trying to find out just how good it was compared to the best, now I see it is good (in bandwidth quality cause I'm not dealing with them directly)...

Now in the NAC and similar quality, which one do you think is cheapest (and with the same quality) for dedicated servers (even through 3rd parties)?

NAC.NET is definitely not the best datacenter. There are hundreds of datacenters all over the US that will top NAC. Their datacenter looks like my basement with racks.

LOL - Im glad someone agrees. Take a virtual tour on the site. Make sure you look up at the ceiling. Where'd that tile run off to now? Maybe a leaky roof?

They may be fantastic but I sure as heck wouldn't put those as the pics of my datacenter, let alone my basement.

Hm ... in what way? Have you really compared Inflow and Internap side to side and came with that conclusion?
