hard disk copy
On a linux 7.3 machine, i'm wondering if it's possible to make an identical copy of the primary disk (both 20gig), such that the copy could be removed and used to boot/run in an emergency. what command(s)?
I don't know any commands in Linux as I'm not especially a Linux guru, but look into Disk Imaging or Disk Ghosting.
Hope this helps.
man dd to set it up initially
man rsync to keep it current
My host has a shell script that he gave me that I set up as a cron job that backs up the HD to the second hd every nice at 3:00 am (I believe).
man dd and man rsync will help you out, You can set up a cron job (maybe through your control panel depending on which you use) to run rsync every night.
thanks, guys. this gives me a good start,
