Need Fast phpbb forum Host - any good examples?
Recently switched hosts and moved to phpbb which I like, but the forum runs so slowly on the current host that its unusable, so I need to move.
I'm not asking for a free host and I've been looking around. I've seen a couple of fast phpbb boards on ipowerweb, but since checking this forum I guess they're a complete no-no.
Can anyone recommend such a host...? obviously posting a link to a good fast phpbb board and telling me the host would be an ideal response..?!
cheers
(sorry if this has been asked before, I've had a fair search about without finding an answer)

basically any server that has mysql and php. Just make sure they are fast their selves. I know www.atwebhost.com has phpbb for their forums and its fast but they dont have small little plans. Basically any place would be good if they are fast.

Best thing to do I think would be to maybe ask for an IP to ping from any host you are interested in and check out the reponse times vs. your current host.. also a test download file might help.. mosts hosts wont mind doing that for you just send and email or contact there support department.

If you want cheaper than that - Dixiesys has a few of my domains and I have phpbb and invision on a domain - they move very fast but both have sub 100 posts on each. Not sure what having 100,000 posts on it would do.
cheapest dixie plan is $3.95/mo. www.3-95.com.

i host my forum with them and the speed is quite fast, my forum always got about 20 concurrent users, about 1,400 members, making about 300 posts a day, the server handles pretty well

cheers!
Thank you all for your help...
After general nosing around, and enquiries elsewhere, I'm going for Rotohost... so particular thanks to Nick for that.
I've now got all the aggro of actually changing hosts, so I really hope it'll be worth it!!

This Thread is very old ( Oct 2002 ) but very necessary. Some of the Forums no longer exist. Some of the Web Hosters are wrong or do not exist.
I found this interesting Forum inside this thread :
http://www.mgmstudios.org/board/
But the given Web Hoster is wrong.
If I can collect more URLs for Forums and their Web Hosters then I can do an excellent comparison. By measuring times and reliability.
My forum now is a disaster loading sometimes in 2, 3 or 4 MINUTES. And having DNS Resolution errors.
If there was ever someone needing help then that is me.
Thanks for Help.
