    Question mysql dump question

    Hello,

I am trying to transfer all the database in my mysql installation on one server to another. What is the best quickest way to do this?

I have dumped each individual database into a dump file, transfered the files over to the new server, then imported each file. But I have about 20 databases at least and it is timeconsuming.

Is there a quicker way to do this. ie how can I jump all the databases into one file? (if this is possible) or can I simple zip up the physical location of the datbases and unzip it on the new server?

any ideas will be great ... it is a PITA to move one database at a time.

    thanks

You can use mysqldump --databases (or --all-databases if you want to dump all databases). However with this you need create database permission on the target server, which is not the case with almost all web hosting.

If you have the same username & password for accessing all your database, if might be simpler to create a shell script to automate the task.
