An Amazing Host -- Smidwap Solutions

    Hi

Smidwap Solutions is hosting a site for free for me, after I posted here a month and a half ago, having looked at like 700 other hosts. I signed up for MANY, and most of them slapped me with file type and size limits, or they deleted my stuff 5 minutes after I'd upload it. The point is these guys saw that I was completely frustrated with my experiences, and offered me exactly what I was looking for, even they don't normally offer free accounts. My site has never had any downtime, and every question I have had, and all the help I've ever needed, I have been able to talk on AOL Instant Messanger to smidwap008 (the president of Smidwap Solutions) and resmcse. (the vice pres) They are both extremely nice and helpful. These guys price very competitively, and recently gave one of my friends an account for only $20 for the whole year!! That's about 5 cents a day!! I think these guys are the greatest, and you should support them by buying an account, and tell them how you found out about them.

You can check out their site here

    Thanks for reading this!!

P.S. I don't work for them or anything, and no benefit comes to me by doing this, so you can tell how great Smidwap Solutions is.

That appears to be his older site. He posted a request for free hosting about six weeks ago here. And was excited then. If he's happy; well, that's a good thing.

Joe, what is the site they host for you?
There is no best host. There is only the host that's best for you.

Yes, it is free for me, but they don't normally give out free sites. I'm not sure what Smidwap means exactly, but it's probably just a random name or even somebodys last name.

I thought I might clear up a little something: Smidwap is no more than a made up name. I can't recall ever knowing someone with the last name of Smidwap !

Ah, thanks. I was just wondering. I like funny words and, to me, smidwap is a funny word.

  14. #14
What's so great about a faq board?? And that seems pretty minor if that's all you can think of to knock smidwap. Seriously these people are great and everyone should buy stuff from them cause it's top quality with great service. No kidding.

Yes, we are planning many switches. In fact, we are starting on them right as you are reading this post. However, we don't want to make anything official until it is all said and done.

    WOW!!!

Really??!! You went through 700 different hosting companies - all terrible - before deciding upon a hosting site where 1/3 of their main page is a blank gradient graphic?!

    WOW!!!

If there is something you don't like about our design, you could say it in a much nice way.

We are currently getting our site redesigned. I am expecting much higher results out of this design than our current one.

I was just at http://www.joextbhx.smidwap.com/index2.html and noticed that under the list of programs hosted was one 'Serial Generator' which is described on the page as

"Serial Generator 2.0.E - This program contains the serial numbers for about 500 programs from these developers: Adobe, Autodesk and Discreet, Cakewalk, Corel, Games, Macromedia, Microsoft, Sonic Foundry, and others. You may think this program is a virus because of it's size, and file type, but I assure you it isn't. I didn't make this or have anything to do with it so I take no responsibility for it. "

Is this why it has not been readily accepted by other host ?

Thank you for pointing that out. I have contacted him and all content pertaining with the Serial Generator has been removed. Once again, thank you eddy2099 for finding that.

    Matt,

Incidentally, there is also another program serial number which is posted on the site on that same page http://joextbhx.smidwap.com/programs.html . It is for Macro Express .

You might want to have that removed too.

    Edwin,

I have taken a much closer look at the page and I believe all programs requiring a serial number have been removed. Thank you for continuing to point these out. I will make sure to do a better job of monitoring next time.

JoExTbHx was very cooperative in deleting the files.

    Matt,

No problem. I am a software developer and I just cannot quite stand for software privacy no matter how minor it seems.

I know you offered Joe a free hosting account and I believe you did it in good faith but I just do not want to see you and your company tarnished with lawsuits, DOS attacks and so on for this.

    Which is against the rules.

SPAM! Why should lower prices matter to you? You're already getting free hosting.

Matt: nothing against you or Smidwap, but you should ask JoExTbHx to stop promoting your business. I think most of us here at WHT are smart enough to know that a recommendation from someone getting free hosting doesn't mean much except that he needs to keep you happy to continue getting free hosting.

    smidwap -

I'd just like to personally apologise for my earlier post - the tone was uncalled for. I actually intended to remove the post this morning, but was unable to locate the thread.

I've learned to become highly suspicious of company endorsements, especially from newbies. After a number of such posts my cynicism just sought release. But I will do far more to keep it better tamed.

Please also accept my sincere apologies for any perceived slight towards your company.

As for the blank space issue in the footer - frankly, it's a small spoiler on an otherwise catchy template.

    Brian

Thank you everyone for the comments and concerns.

    pcjunky-
I probably should have read the posts a little more carefully. I do realize that that could be considered spam. However, one litle problem with your comments. I fully intend to continue hosting JoExTbHx for as long as he needs it. I never asked him to post this thread, he did it out from the kindness of his heart.

    I, Brian-
Your apologies are most accepted! I do understand that the blank blue-white gradient is a small spoiler; however, having content in it could take away from the main purpose of our homepage-make it easy for the user to navigate through the site. Thank you for your kind comments!

    DutchSchultz-
