I signed up an account of hosting from gearhost.com a few months ago and they told me I got a month free. I cancelled my account last month but they keep charging me this month. I asked why they charged me for this month, they said I have to pay for the fee for the free month. They NEVER said the free month will be paid back if I cancel my account.
I don't know if this is the execuse for their billing mistake, or it's quite normal for they to say so? Has anyone had such experience and what should I do ?
The only time we may charge an account when cancelled is when a domain name may of been purchased. We did at one time require that all promotions be paid back if the account was cancelled (similar to that of a lease term for example) but that is not honored any longer. I think the communication link between GearHost and you is falling short since you’re asking questions on WHT rather than to GearHost and our team might be misinformed. Please contact billing to resolve this matter right away.
What should you do? find there server and throw it out of the window.. nah, do a charge back
Darth, like someone on WHT pointed out some people are just charge back happy. I think it's better for the customer/company if they try to figure out the problem first. If all else fails then proceed with a charge back.
Maybe there's been a miscommunication between yourself and GearHost. Try contacting them and explaining your situation,.
Good advice Fazel, it's always easier (sometimes) to talk with the company first as there might of been a misunderstanding.
