I have 29 recurring orders on instabill, but, 10% comission + 10% holdback (ouch... extremely low profit)

I would like to switch to revecom, some kind of "instant switch" moving all recurring orders from instabill to revecom (instabill and revecom are owned by paysystems)

I'm a reseller

Any comments/suggestions? Thnx

I get the feeling that it isn't automatic, but you'd have to ask revecom if they can somehow convert the accounts. Then you should post here!

I'm starting my hosting business this week and I'm still debating whether to go with revecom or start with instabill and then upgrade to revecom...

The only reason I am considering going with instabill at first is because revecom requires a business banking account... and I really don't want to have like a handfull of resold accounts (in the first few months) and still be as tax-liable as a larger more established host...

I was planning to wait for the business to grow a little before setting up the official tax-burden...Oh no, wait, I mean business infrastructure.

If anybody has been through this little dilemma your comments are welcome.

I'll probably call revecom and instabill tomorrow. I'll post anything I findout that may be useful.

I asked Revecom in February if they owned Instabill. Their reply was that they did not, but both companies did consider merging. (The MCC is a PaySystems product that Instabill uses, hence the similarities.) Has that changed?

And no, they can't transfer accounts. Your clients have to re-sign under Revecom.

Steve, I believe it has been discussed that you do NOT need a biz banking account. Yes, it says so, but if you get checks sent to you, you don't need it.

I'm not a tax attorney, but I think your concerns aren't really well-founded. Opening a business checking account has no effect on your tax situation, unless your plan is to evade taxes on any money you'll make on your hosting business anyway. Actually, it is helpful in that it eases the task of separating your business income and expenses from personal. You can open a business checking account as a sole proprietor simply under your own name; you don't need to incorporate or set up any kind of official business entity.

As someone else pointed out, Revecom doesn't actually require that you have a business account (as long as you choose to have them pay you by check) so it's not really a problem anyway.

Thanks for your replies. After I posted this I found and read the 6 page thread on billing with revecom and instabill. Cleared many things up...

I'll probably go with revecom. The only reason I was concenrned about a business account was the time it'll take to set it up and the associated fees...wellsfargo is usually slow and their business banking accounts are sort of expensive..I haven't shopped around though.

I just wanted a billing solution that I could have up and running in a week, which should be possible with revecom if all goes well... But I doubt my bank could get it together in that amount of time if I needed them to...which I don't yet.

So I was just looking for a faster solution, since I'm in sort of a bind... I have a bunch of clients with sites being planned and built and I need somewhere to host them and bill then now... I think I have it all worked out now. Once I get things up I'll go shopping for a business banking account

I like instabill because we could insert some custom field into their processing form (for example: our customer domain name:) so we do not need to make an additional form into the "thank you" page.

I was wondering if with revecom we could do the same thing.

Yes. I have been exploring the demo and revecom does let you add some of your own fields to the order form... It's virtually the same interface as instabill, but with more features. They're not owned by the same company, but they use a similar interface from paysystems I believe.

Also I noticed in the demo's network messages that they are changing their billing and payment system and it looks like they will be accepting personal US bank accounts to recieve direct deposit / ACH... you used to need a business bank account for direct deposit

Here is the actual Revecom network message:

ACH Settlement for US Merchants - 3/17/01
We have successfully completed our ACH Infrastructure. The system will be used for both payment processing and merchant settlement. As of April 1, all US-Based clients will receive their settlement via direct deposits into the personal or business accounts.

Revecom is good. We're used them for months now with only a minor hitch or two. If you've done a search for Revecom on this board and read everything you probably know about the date problem we had by now.

Erm, thanks Chicken. Anyway as I was saying (but picking my words better this time), Revecom seems to suit everything you'll need it for. Once your account is approved with them, you'll have your panel set into 'test' mode, which means you get to play with it, charge stuff to it, refund from it - yadda yadda. Once you're used to it, you email them and ask them to set it to 'live' Then you're in business.

Note# Sometimes they don't seem to mention you have to ask them to have it activated once you've finished playing with it. I waited a week before emailing them - it went live a few hours later

In the end there's a ton of info about Revecom in this forum (just search for it). There's enough here, plus enough users to get you on your feet with it.
