best way to sell a domain to a company

A famous UK shopping chain has therename.com therename.co.uk and therename.org registered.

Lastnite I noticed the .net had dropped, and i registered it. Whats the best way for me to attempt to get a good price from them for this domain ?

    hehe, nice catch.

I imagine it will be more trouble than it's worth though given that their name is probably trademarked, right? If you don't want to give out the name can you atleast tell us that info

btw, who owned it that they let it lapse? It wasn't the store, right?

This guy is just hoping to make a fast buck from the company, so he would obviously loose the ICANN dispute policy.

Transfer it to them and dont cyber squat!

My first thought on this is that if that domain had any value at all to them, they wouldn't have let it expire in the first place!
In 1982, I thought PCDOS was better than VIC20.
In 1993, I thought OS2 was better than Windows 3.1.
In 2007, I don't know what to think.

well, I am thinking maybe it is not that big of a store.

or maybe they didn't have a technical person that thought it was worthwhile buying so some 3rd party bought the .net version.

and that 3rd person let it lapse. So now there's a new 3rd party in town.

Either they didn't care about the .net version, or the last owner let it lapse due to a pending legal fight.

    Who knows.

LOL @ people telling me not to "cyber squat" ... i say get a life guys, like i give a ****** what you think!

Generally big companies just give you £x rather than have the hassle of going through any legal arguments.

A UDRP/WIPO complaint costs' $1,500. If the company is small they'd probably rather give up $100 rather then $1500.

The worst that could happen is they do file and win so you're out about $10....good luck.

I wish those companies contacted me instead of the other ones. Well, to be exact, the 4 other companies who contacted me. Well, actually, one was an individual not a company... Long story.
