For my next project I need a script for a link directory. Which one should I use? in-link http://www.in-link.net or links-sql http://www.gossamer-threads.com
in-link is much cheaper at 200 plus some modifications for $200 = $400 whereas links-sql costs $450 plus a language module for $400.
The big plus of gossamer is they are able to build static HTML pages, but in-link claim that they are working on this, too. Both have some other software which could be useful if the site has to be extended....
Price is a concern but I don't want to make sure to buy the right script...
I use both also. I'd have to say I'm happier with GT than with In-Links. I also run the non-mysql version.
The fact that GT generates static HTML which is indexed much better is the deciding factor for me.
I'd say that the admin side of In-Links is better. In-Links also seems to be very bugy at times. I've been using it for about a year and I found some very basic stuff that was not working and simple to fix (in the earlier versions).
Last year same time I bought both in-link and indexu (http://www.indexu.com/) for a link directory project. I made two installations, added about 60.000 links to each and modified the templates to fit the client's needs.
Finally we decided to use indexu for the real project: less bugs, more speed, better template system, some features less, many features more.

I usuauly choose a product which has got a bigge User base / Support community . I think that way Gossamer Threads is bigger . but the cost difference is realy much . so it's upto your requirements .
most features are brought in by hacks sometime sooner or later .. in al softwares . so I would rather opt for the cheaper one at first ... but if it realy fails , then it bad luck ,... i guess . , but it never happened to me .
