Cpanel vs hspere

Does anyone have a server that uses hspere or Cpanel. What would you recommend?

I am getting a server and i want something that will make things a little easier to manage.

Cpanel is very good if you are doing single server installation and don't mind the monthly fee.

If you plan to expand out and get many servers, or if you want the control, you should go for h-sphere.

Of course, the differences between the two are barely covered by my post; you should search the forum archive to learn more.

Thanks I will check.

I will check the forums. I really like both. I have used both and I am a fan of both. I started with Cpanel and it's great.

I discovered hspere recently. It's a bit work to figure out, but once you do it's great. I also like the ability to integrate with many other companies and vendors eg. (Payments and domains.) plus the additional features made me an instant fan.

I will check the other forums and see what the other users have to say, but that's sounds like solid advise. Cpanel for a single server solution, and hspere for more than one, because it allows greater integration without having to do too many changes or disruptions.

Also Cpanel for $58.00 external is not too bad a price either. Thanks also for the link.

H Sphere is really more than just a control panel. It's a complete hosting solution. Cpanel does not have an integrated billing and support ticket system ike H Sphere.

H Sphere's billing system also is not just a simple add on that lets you bill customers each month for their plan. It allows you to set limits and quotas, so you can give a customer 100 mb and then automatically charge them for additional space they use. This is option works for any add on a customer could want.

Also the ability to host limux, free bsd and windows with one system and manage it all from one control panel allows you more control and options than any other control panel on the market.

I highly recommend H Sphere for its expandability and excellent support.

I can only second that, with one little exception: You should have at least 2 servers before considering to install H-Sphere because with only one server you can't use all of its advantages.
If you have 2 or more servers though, H-Sphere plays in a different league than CPanel.

Or ... if you plan to have a control panel for your Windows and FreeBSD servers, as well as Linux servers

Thumbs up That's some great feedback.

Sounds like hspere really out classes the competition.

But it sounds like it's high maintance at first but worth while if you have the server equipment needed to use it.

2 servers not just one, but it sounds like it lets you do a lot. I really do like hspere a great deal.

You can start out with one server and H Sphere with no problems.

You can definatly use h-sphere with just one server and it really is not high maintance.

I am using H-Sphere and I personally love it. It look some getting used to, but now that everything is working exactly the way I like it, no problems at all. Everything you can imagine is automated, except maybe adding more ip's (just type in the range) or adding a new server (run a script).

If you get started on the wrong software it more of a pain to switch. Start out right!!

Cool Sounds like hspere is the way to go.

Well it sounds like hspere is the way to go.

Don't get me wrong, I am still a fan of Cpanel.

But it sounds like hspere is the way to go if you want to do it up right.

Thanks for all the feedback.

H-Sphere simply rocks ... !!! I have been on WHT and also on H-SpHERE now . as someone mentioned before me , it is not a Control Panel ... it is a devastating tool . If you are lookinmg for Web Hosting Automation , go for only H-Sphere .
Learning it is a little tougher , but the power and features you get with it , you won't think of another software after using it .
And their support is terrific .

yes ... i know .. i have been prasing them a lot lately , thats coz of the product and the benefits I am reaping from it .

User Perspective

Yes... You've covered the point of view from a server admin's perspective but from a users perspective cPanel is the way to go...

I will admit that I have spent the last year in an hsphere environment managing 50+ websites in a webmasters role and I am currently moving all of the sites to a cpanel host simply because hshpere is too complicated and brutally difficult to maintain.

cpanel offers more flexibility from a users perspective. Go with hsphere if your not afraid about losing clients. Maybe it is more difficult from a server admins point of view to get all the bells and whistles working properly... I'm not sure since I am not an admin...

But from a users perspective cpanel wins in these categories...

Adding an MX record for email hosted on another server.
You cannot grant CREATE access to users with mysql.
No Backup interface exists ( believe me... this is important )
Speed...
Fantasico works... easy apps doesn't... ( might be the server admins problem... I'm not sure... )
Ease of Use, straightforward and more intuitive.
Libraries exist to interface with automation of account maintenance and creation opposed to the crappy hsphere experimental XML interface.

I could go on forever... I will also mention that I have used hsphere as a webmaster with different hosting companies and it is a constant source of frustration whether your running a reseller account or just a plain vanilla account. The ability to erase an account with a single click with no recourse ( I hear the latest version of hsphere fixes this problem ) is a serious issue as well... however I have never had to recover anything from a cpanel environment yet so I can't really call judgement on that yet...

cpanel wins... hands down...
