    Calling All Medical Personnel

Ok, I have an appointment with my doctor on wednesday about this but I thought id ask here first.

I seen to have had some sort of throat infection for the past couple of months, I went the doctors when it was really painful and by the time i got there is wasnt as painful (typical)

Now i still have a small amount of pain and a cluster of lumps around the rear or my throat, now ive read that some lumps/bumps are meant to exist and are nothing to worry about, but these bumps feel worrying.

I stuck my tongue down there a few times and they feel about 4mm in width across and some are quite delicate.

Any ideas on this one?? im sure they would go away with a bucket load of medicine but im just curious.

it's quite serious, my expert prognosis is you're dying a slow and painful death I'd be happy to take over your mod duties when you kick the bucket (and it's not long now!)

Dont even start reading up on the Internet about it, number one way to scare yourself.

Decide on the morning of the day whether to go or not, you should go anyway, sod's law is it might hide itself on the day of the appointment so you don't go and then reappear that night or the following morning.

Chance are its just a bacterial infection and a few days antibotics will get rid of it. Might be down to heavy drinking

How true. I always scare myself every time I look at those self-help books; there's too many conditions that seem serious!

Are those lumps in your throat white in color (sort of resembling carriflower)?

Then you probably have throat cancer.

I say you`ve got 2 months left to live. It`s probably already begun to spread. No point in even going to the doctor...too late.

Nope, I don't like them books neither. instead of self-help, they should call 'em...

"Good Lord! You hope you don't get..."

    or

"You only have a strange bump, but look what else you might get!"

*suggests you just let the doctor tell you what's wrong*

xtstrike ~ I spent last night in the emergency room reading flash cards to my wife (she is in school for her RN), and she had to visit the ER herself, so we took the time spent there and did flash cards for her anatomy classes.

Consider me "Qualified to answer your Medical professional questions"

Also, I will need your credit card as with the extensive education I have undergone (1 night reading flash cards), you're in good hands I would think.

You must be a girl, cos blokes die in the butt when they get a cold and expect sympathy from everyone

Did it ever occur to you that xtstrike might be genuinely worried?

I'm male. Does that make it worse?

Laughter is the best medicine (except if you have a terminal disease).
