    Question Adverising come back?

What do you all think, advertising rates are getting better, so how long until they reach the area as they used to be.

I think it slowly will get better and better for the webmaster because of the boom in internet selling and buying.

    What do you all think?

With the old great rates you could pay for hosting costs (server costs) just from advertising revenue no? That would be great.

I just wonder what advertising will be like in 30 years! Look at advertising from back when television was just getting popular it's changed alot.

I dont think that The internet will change much in the next 20 or 30 years, besides maybe a shift towards high quality media content. It's obvious that current advertising methods dont work well, and I dont think that the intrusive ads you see on sites like ign.com will be around for long since they piss me(and i'm sure others) off.

Anyway sorry to be a bit off topic but my point is that the current methods of advertising on the internet dont work that well, and I dont think ad rates will go up much untill they find a better means.

    Maybe 'Lead' advertising?

If the buyer uses x ad to go to the site then buys a product, the webmaster where the ad was gets x amount.

    That is good for advertisers.

What advertising company do you use? I have a pretty popular site, but can't get anything over 20 cents CPM, so obviously I'm not thinking that the advertising industry is coming back heh.

It is still way down on what it used to be, and it ain't going to get better anytime soon.

we probably never will see an internet media but selling for $30-50 CPM - i worked with CommerceOne when I was 16 (intern in NYC) and they did a media buy with AskJeeves and Pets.com (remember) for $45CPM. That is ridiculous. We will see it back up to (maybe) 1-3$. (In quite some time)

Maybe when the popup ad networks decide their ferocious spawning of multiple popups and download prompts, isn't making them any money
The reputable ones that have one only popup or better still popunder, will be the winners, as will their affiliates

TV shows have recently started to merge ads into the shows as alot of ppl skips the commercials. For example the character in the show will be eating a chocolate bar and mention the name and how good it is or driving a car and mention the make and model etc. I think this will be the wave of the future.

As for the internet... prolly the same old pop ups and spam.
