There seem to be thousands of hosting review sites these days, but which ones are reputable / popular enough to bother with?

Well from what I see the only one which is quite ok is HostJury. However you should ignore their "top 10" lists as well as it does not fully reflect all the hosting providers there and most hosting provider are missing from this list.

ignore all top10 lists...webhostingstuff is also good when you look at the individual reviews, and as stated above, hostjury is also good.
imo you are better off going around and asking hosts questions and see how well they handle your request - most reviews around the net are negative and that's because the people with the bad exp tend to write the reviews lol. so its better to find out for yourself.

www.webhostingstuff.com or www.web-hosting-top.com are a good choice

Don't bother with those sites. Come and search in WHT. That is one of the most reputable sites to get reliable reviews.

More interesting if any potential hosting buyers are reading any of those sites.

Agree! If you are looking for a good host, the best place to read reviews is here.
If you want to be "reviewed" and get listed as a "Top Host", google for "Top Ten Hosts" and you will find tons of sites where you pay to be listed. You might lose some reputation, though

I totally agree. You know how sometimes people that are not willing to learn simplest basics get upset when things just don't work their way, even if it is technically impossible.
The best thing actually is to browse the forums like this one I think.
And as it has already been mentioned: go ask the Hosting providers about things you are interested in and see how they react. You would understand it right away if someone is trying to trick you.

Sorry. I was a bit ambiguous in my original post.
I'm not looking for hosting
I was wondering more about hosting review sites that were reputable from our perspective ie. which ones it would be worth getting reviewed on.

This site (WHT): Reviews are free, questioned, verified most of the time and best of all: their are supposed to be published by a real customer

That you subsequently post reviews to moments later, under 3rd party names? Toss off.
