After getting spammed a lot recently via my cell, i was wondering if there were dedicated SMS servers out there?
A client asked me like 2 years ago, but i couldn't find any services.

Do you know if it still costs $ per SMS? (I hope it does).
Mostly because that means my SMS spam will likely decrease.

EXCELLENT!
Darn spammers. ANy idea how much it costs per send? I know here, it costs about $0.05 or $0.10 if i want to send a SMS to my friends.
Are there any services that DON'T cost any money? I guess the only one i have seen (which i'm assuming doesn't cost money), is like when you are allowed so SMS someone through the telecom's network.
In the case of Canada, i think you can SMS through Rogers for Roger's customers.

All reliable service providers charge money for sending bulk SMS messages. Why? because cellphone companies charge money for each SMS that is delivered to customers on their network. That is how they make the money.
There are many sites that will allow you to send 5-10 messages free of cost for trial but none will allow you to send messages in bulk for free.

I suggest you to check with the Mobile carrier itself. I sure that each Cellular carrier has it's own datacenter and when 3rd party want to buy bulk SMS and get direct access into the carrier network then the 3rd party must collocate the servers inside the mobile carrier datacenter.

Thanks for the advice.
I guess i'm just curious if spammers can actually SMS-spam with impunity, or if there is a cost.
Cuz if email spam cost $0.01 to do, they wouldn't afford to email as wantonly as they do.

Well, out here in India, the cost to send an SMS within the country is super cheap. If you buy in bulk it comes down to 5-10 paisa per SMS (10 paise is 0.002 USD). There are also cheap SMS sending modems (~150USD). Don't know if they work out of India or what are the terms of use.

In Australia (if you send it through a gateway here) it is about 15 US cents... Dedicated SMS servers are available and they offer bulk plans, these bulk plans are so cheap that anyone can afford to bulk SMS. They are intended for large companies so maybe they need to add some form of verification to prevent bots from spamming

You can use SMS (IP based) gateway or use just a cell phone or GSM modem (for sending SMS). I've read that you can send I think 15 or 35 thousand SMS per day night - free to your network, will have to pay to SMS to other than yours network.
