RED5 for flash, which is free, or wowza, or flash media streaming server, but the last two cost money. You can also just use progressive download and you won't need to install anything special.

Try Adobe flash media streaming server.
It is pretty good but a lit bit pricy.

Couple of my customers swear by red5.. Personally, I haven't a clue how to use the thing, I know how to set it up etc.. I'm not a video or flash developer..

You can use shoutcast with NSV, this is quite popular and shoutcast itself is free. For a control panel, any shoutcast control panel should do the job.

Are you looking for a turn key application where you can post videos and manage it from the backend and either charge or not charge to view content. A few features allow you to create channels to separate content, also you can have use the membership feature charge people if you like to watch video? .

PM me if your interested to see a demo.

red5 should be the choice

If you need live videostreaming go for Red5, for a site like Youtube you may go for any scripts like phpmotion, vidiscript, clipbucket etc which needs ffmpeg+mencoder+mplayer installation PM me for any Installation assistance

There are also a lot of website that does not need to download any software to stream, try to search the title of the movie you want to watch at the search engine and you can find a lot of free video streaming.

It would probably be cheaper, and easier, to simply post it on a video website and embed it onto your own.

How many hits are you going to be getting? If your only getting a few then it would be much easier than if you're getting 1000's a day.
