as part of the package. So far, I have only found 2. GoDaddy and GeekStorage.com Geek is brandable, that is good. But I think they have no Cpanel. Also premiumresellers.com looks good to me.
I am thinking of trying to streamilne a small hosting business that also people could sign up for automatically and just do their thing. no tricks, no mirrors, just basic simple hosting for business web sites.
I want CentOS, Cpanel, and clientexec for purposes of automation, and of course PayPal and maybe a MC/Visa account.
This would be a small stream of income for me. If I needed assistance, I would hire say, Steven to help me out. I did business with him a few years ago. Fascinating guy.
As it is, I use hostmysite.com for me and a few clients. With critical business sites, I would probably keep them there due to the awesome support. Anyways, resellers with prebuilt web sites where clients can sign up, buy domain names, and maybe even dedicated servers, with me simply getting some traffic to the site and the host providing the premium support seem to be few and far between, or am I missing something?
This is a great forum I have been a long time lurker and participant over the years off and on. Thanks, Dave

GeekStorage uses cPanel for their shared & reseller hosting accounts.
If you search for GoDaddy's hosting on WHT, you will see many horror stories, so IMO, be careful when choosing your host.
First of all, you doesn't seem to know what you are actually doing, and intend to just make some quick money without knowing the actual things you need to consider before starting these.
For your case, do some homework on WHT for a few good months(12mths will be best) and start of with a reseller account with InnoHosting for example, as they provide the needs to start your own host. (SSL, Support etc.)

We have something like this setup for domain registration, i.e. an API that you can code into to get automatic domain checks then register them through your own website instead of having to do everything via your HMS control panel.
You're right in that we don't have similar functionality for 'normal' hosting accounts though - you still have to manually submit the order via the control panel for your clients. Adding an API for this was considered in the past for a few larger resellers that literally needed thousands of small hosting accounts added over the course of a few months, however for something like what i think you want, i.e. a much smaller environment, I don't think that's something our dev guys can code at this time.
It would be nice though, and I hope to see that sort of functionality added sometime (though I'm not holding my breath).

WOW, it is great to see someone from hostmysite here! I do not think I have ever seen that, and thought maybe I would be turning on the community to a hidden resource Not that I have spent all THAT much time here, but I do much reading on this Forum.
I wish I would hurry up and win the lottery as then all I would do is mess around with servers for fun
I am probably not going to do anything too quickly. i really guess i was more or less wondering why more companies do not have replicate sites pre-made for their resellers? No sense in having to reinvent the wheel.
I am going over to hostmysite and check out servers there. I always think of you guys as the Cadillac, when this time i think I only need a VW
Anyways, this is really a heck of a good forum thanks for all your input. Dave

I'm the only person from HMS that regularly posts here, and have for several years, though we do have other techs that show up to answer questions every now and again.
After speaking with a few others about your post today I found out that our API does allow for automatic hosting account creation, but it's not quite 'plug and play' as you have to have a bit of programming knowledge to get it to do what you want. Also, if you want some pricing information just email me your specs and I'll see what we can do - my email address is jamie@hostmysite.com.

OH, and as to why 'pre-made sites' aren't prevelant in the industry...my guess is that there is too much overhead because invariably clients want more and more flexibility, and it quickly gets to an unsupportable stage. Just my $0.02.

Thanks Jamie, I am very interested in the leverage that technology can bring to business. And since I love computers, web sites and control panels, I figure it would be a good business for me. Building a web site of the quality of yours and others here is way beyond my capabilities, that is really why I inquired about the reseller web sites. I can easily see where this would get out of control from a support standpoint.
Also I am painfully aware of the amount of knowledge necessary to support a hosting business. It boggles the mind. I have learned some, but have a ways to go.
And then of course, as a friend is CONSTANTLY pointing out, Sales and Marketing. No sales, no business So, for now, I think I will just continue to haunt WHT and learn as much as possible.
