What kind of FrontPage questions do you get the most?

I was wondering if you had a "shortlist" of the most commonly asked questions you get from your customers that use FrontPage?

Any input would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks. A good start.

Regarding the first one, I had an FP customer who was only able to publish after propogation. I got him to try using IP address, didn't work. Do you in fact have to wait until after it propogates?

Nah but you do have to specify "ftp://" before the IP
(ie. ftp://111.222.333.444 then it should ask for user and pass which will bring user to correct directory)

    Eric

Hmm. As I read through various FAQ on FP, they all refer to "http://www.yourdomain.com" or "http://45.345.45.43". Are you sure it's "ftp://..." ?

By far the biggest frontpage question (problem):

YOUR FRONTPAGE IS BROKEN I CANNOT PUBLISH

Wich usually means they uploaded files using FTP and file permissions are wrong

I try to stay away from MS stuff as much as possible

Actually, I found out more about it. In FP, you can publish either by http or ftp. You would use http if you're publishing to a server that has FP extensions installed, and by ftp if the server does not have them installed. The difference is that, when ftp-ing, FP will actually warn you if you are uploading something that needs extensions in order to run properly.

We have not had that many problems with Frontpage. In fact using it is good because it's very easy on the user. The only problem we've had actually (yes I'll rant) is that publishing the site takes up quite a signifigant amount of server resources (since author.exe has to be run as a CGI).

This isn't the top question by FP users, but it is certainly my favorite and always gives me a laugh:

    "What is a 'start' button?"

In case you didn't understand the reference, the person asking that question just got their computer and cable modem, started a web hosting account, and they can barely operate their computer, let alone upload web site content.

Seriously, our number one question by FP users is:

"How do I upload my content before my domain resolves to your servers?"

Our response? If they have a dedicated IP, they can publish using the IP address. If they don't have a dedicated IP (most are too cheap to pay for one), then we explain that they need to use FTP for the initial upload and that they can only use FrontPage to publish once their domain is resolving to the correct server.
