Hello everyone,
I have no experience in file permission and cmod,
I uploaded my site to a shared paln and I when logged into my account, and when I went up one level from my home or Web directory, I could see everyone else's files!
I checked with support, they said "This is a normal and reasonable security model. Files which are published by the Web server need to be publicly accessible, as the Web server software runs without any special privileges. Your files will not be subject to modification by other users on the server unless you have set the permissions specifically to allow that."
I know some other hosts do not allow that !!
They set my directory - as other group - to 755 so “group” can read and execute, they cannot modify but able to review sensitive file information ,, is that correct.?
What will happen if cmod group to zero?
Thanks
