    How to check the speed of a server?

    I need to get some new dedicated servers but need your advice on how to check the speed of its connection. What is the best way to check it?

    try like wget ftp://ftp.uu.net/uumap.tar.Z is a good way to test incoming bandwidth and one way to test outgoing is putting that file on a website on your machine and asking people here to test it and youll get tests from all over the country and maybe from some places arond the world

    ok i'll do that, now i need your experience about what the 'normal', 'good' and 'bad' transfer rates are?

    It depends on what you want. What Speed is the line supposed to be? And what are you getting?
