Does any web host give free dedicated server/cluster hosting to non-profit or famous websites? I'm just wondering coz if I made a site and it got 1 million visits per day, who do you think would give me free dedicated cluster server hosting? Or Would only a rich company like google or microsoft be able to do that? I think i remember google offering to host wikipedia.

The Planet has been one to do this in the past, for large sites where I was a member, moderator or simply a reader.

It has to be in their best interests to host you so you will need to show decent conversion of visitors to business etc

It really depends what your website is about and what type of visitors you receive as to whether it would be a good move for a company to sponsor you.

If you're getting 1 million pageviews per day on a website and your advertisements aren't covering your costs, you're doing something wrong. That kind of traffic should be generating thousands of dollars per month, even with relatively low-paying ads.
If ads aren't covering your costs, you've either got the wrong ad setup, are running something obscenely bandwidth intensive, or have a horribly unoptimized site. Or you're overpaying for your hosting.
Five years ago, I was running a site that got a quarter million pageviews a day off two boxes from what was then ServerMatrix (now ThePlanet), total cost was about $110/mth in servers/bandwidth, and advertisement paid for WAY more than that.
