Isn't the article just on single-letter domain names? Or did I read it too quickly?

If all you're looking at is .com, .net, or .org, then, yeah. No.
But if you're not restricted to just those TLDs, there are many that support two-letter domains. If you want to spend the money, you can even get a single-character .ws. It's just US$50,000 per year. Seriously. Thee-chars are $500, and two-chars are $1,000, IIRC.

They should allow them but just charge way more. Like I'm talking maybe 1000 per year. This would allow serious businesses to use them, but not spammers/scammers that will just waste them.
edit: nm I never read the post above mine, so aparantly they DO in fact charge more, for other extensions, though they should just do that with .net .com etc.

.te??? What country is that supposed to be? There is no .te listed in the IANA database.
