I am a moderator for the site
runevillage.com
On average we will have around 30 users browsing our forums, and at peak times it is not uncommon to see upwards of 60. Our main page does not get many views, and while i don't know the exact numbers i would estimate it to be around 2 page views per min on average.
Based on these numbers could you guys please suggest an appropriate host, because ATM our webmaster is paying upwards of $100 a month and i believe that is way too high.

that is very high but how much disk space and bandwidth is being used? you should look at that and start there when looking for a new host - if it's not too much, you can get away with a few gigs of space and about 10-20gb bandwidth per month - maybe less for both depending on current resource usage.

I'd recommend searching the offers section here. Side note - your FAQ page has some problems.

You should be able to get away with a shared plan, but not for much longer. $100/mo is very high, and you may be able to cut that in half with a good vps or semi-dedicated plan.
Stay away from cheap vps plans...

If you find a good web host, you may still fit into shared hosting for awhile. Just have a look around - I'm sure you'll find something.

Are you using any special module/hack at the forum? something like a shoutbox or similar?
Is it the forum mysql/php based?

That does seem high for what you are describing.
If you can give us more information we can probably help. Do you know how much disk space and bandwidth you are using each month? What forum software are you using?
Thanks

$100/mo seems way too high for what you seem to be using.
I would say try looking for a VPS solution which will allow your forums growth. You should be able to find one of these easily under $100/mo.

As everybody else says, I'll also concur that the price you state is unreasonably high for what traffic you report to be receiving.

You'll have no issue with your website on any quality shared host. How much space and bandwidth do you need?

Exactly, make sure you don't go for a host that oversells their servers, otherwise you may find your account suspended which I'm sure you don't want.
Oh, and for $100 /month you could get a low specification dedicated server...

It sounds like you are at a unique juncture where a standard shared hosting account might not cut it but a dedicated server might be more than you need. To keep your costs down but meet your needs you should check out semi-dedicated options. These typical are VPS solutions or servers where there is a limit to the number of accounts allowed. This ensures greater usability of CPU and RAM.

I would still advice you to stay with a good non-overselling quality shared host as I do not see any dire needs for upgrading to VPS/Dedicated server at this juncture as they'd be an over-kill at this time.

By the sounds of it, I think personally a Shared Host would be quite adequate.
To Rick, Yes VPS/Dedicated would be overkill at this point in time.
Sometime in the future the Forum may need to expand and yes you would start to consider a VPS or Dedicated.
If you know what Statistics are currently at hand, Better assistance could be given, Though to me it does not sound much for a Dedicated Server.
I wish you best of luck with this forum, Even though you are a Moderator.
P.S I could maybe suggest get the Administrator to pop on here or even get some statistics and pass them on
Cheers
Sean

I am agree with Wasatch, as per the traffic details you have mentioned in your first post, a Semi-dedicated plan will be a best solution for you. You donot have to spend more then $69 per month. Semi-dedicated services are generally Fully Managed services , so you will get up time guarantee and Managed Backups beside 24 x 7 days tech-support.
If your requirements grow with the time, you may easily move to a Dedicated server.
**** Linux Semi- dedicated will be a bit cheaper services if you are using PHP/ Mysql for your website.
