Hi,
Will it be a problem if I purchase a SSL certificate, but my current webhost doesnt support it?
I plan on purchasing the SSL now, and then later move the webhosting to a site that supports it?

As long as the domain name is the same then it will be fine. It won't matter that you're on a different IP.

SSL is purchased for a domain and you can easily move it to different IP which in your case is simply another server.

May I know what is the reason for your current hosting provider not to support SSL certificate? I find it a little weird that they can't support it.

I suppose that to have that allowed he needs to have web hosting package updated for bigger one. Am I right?

Hi WBOffline,
Was wondering why you want to go ahead and purchase the SSL cert before you are able to use it? Why not wait until you move your hosting?
Regards

Hi,
It is for a casino site. Our software provider requested this SSL ASAP to get further with the integration. Which is why I purchased it now.
I dont know why my current hosting doesnt support ssl.. It is by one.com ..
I asked godaddy.com if they could install a thawte ssl on their hosting, but apparently they will only allow their own godaddy ssl certificates... sucks...
Do you guys have any ideas of where to find a good webhosting solution that allows you to install a thawte certificate?
At best if it would be hosted out of UK? - I tried rackspace.com but they want 300-400$ monthly for the minimum package. there must be cheaper places, as right now I only pay around 6$ monthly.

Rackspace is a dedicated server company, it doesn't sound like you need a dedi.
Any decent provider that allows you to have a dedicated IP address should allow you to install an SSL - though bear in mind dedicated IPs usually cost a few $ per month.

I believe you are looking for Linux shared hosting with dedicated IP right?

Yes that is correct.
I have checked with Rackspace.com they however seem quite pricy, but professional indeed?

I would go check Hostgator, they will install an SSL Certificate purchased elsewhere for a small fee and after purchasing a Dedicated IP from them.

How much space and bandwidth are you currently using? Most hosting companies should support SSL certificates.
