Anti-Spam Filtering + Mail Spooling
I'm working on building my own home based server but I'm concerned about what would happen to my emails during a power outage. I would also like to get Anti-Spam filter, preferable from a Barracuda solution provider. I only need protection for 1 email account so I'm looking for someone priced appropriately and who are reliable. Can anyone make some recommendations?

Use Google Apps, and perhaps buy the premium one since you only have 1 account, should be around 50$ a year. All you have to do is setup the MX records on your DNS and you should be golden, since Google's service has a very high uptime.

E-mail isn't typically lost unless your server(s) would be down for more then a few days. That is if your servers are unresponsive and not mis-configured, mis-configured servers can lose your mail.

Find yourself a Postini reseller, far better than Barracuda, MailFoundry, etc. Their infrastructure is also far bigger than some company with a couple of anti-spam appliances, therefore far more resistant to DDoS and other types of attack.
We've been using them for years, have several thousand mailboxes with them and have never had a problem or used a solution so accurate.
Since Google bought out Postini, I think it's possible to buy the service directly from the Google website, I've not done it personally though.

Go with MXLogic, which has a message continuity plan which gives rolling storage for 60 days and the ability to operate your mailbox through a web interface during any downtime. Alternatively, go for a filtering plan with Failsafe, which gives 5 days rolling storage but without access to operate the mailbox from the web.
Postini's web interface is horrible, but that's not the only reason I won't recommend it. MXLogic's filtering is far superior, but that's my personal experience and opinion. I say that despite providing Postini for clients (in addition to MXLogic) who want a slightly cheaper service. It has Active Directory integration too (although Postini may have that as well, I have forgotten).
You can purchase the MXLogic plans cheaper from one of their authorized partners - luxsci.com is one.

To chime in with another Hosted/ SaaS solution, checkout Websense Hosted EMail Security.
Originally Blackspider who started up way way way back and have some of the most experienced guys working in this field.
NB: In the interests in openness, I have worked on the Websense Hosted global infrastructure heading up global network operations for a period of time.

Postini won't spool email - Google claim they never write the email to disk.
Barracuda is OK, MailFoundry is what we use for our internal email at the moment and are pretty happy.
Have you considered Hosted Exchange? If you only need one mailbox it's pretty cheap and usually comes with some kind of Barracuda / Ironport / Messagelabs kind of service bundled in. Even if you're an Exchange Sysadmin running your own server for one mailbox is a bit overkill.

I'd advise people stay away from Message Labs at the moment - they will be going through quite a bit of turmoil over the next 18 months since their acquisition, and the fact that many of the original guys who have stayed around longer than they would have waiting for their share options to pay out.

Theres a handful of reputable companies offering such services, I personally would avoid those that require you (or force you) to go through a reseller, afterall, who wants to deal with a middle man..
Most of them offer mail spooling, some charge extra, at that point, go for whichever fits your budget, most will deliver the service you looking for.

That's crap, they _DO_ spool e-mail where necessary, and I have first hand experience of that. Perhaps not with the Google Apps product, but the Postini product offers that functionality.

I'm curious as to what you think is wrong with the web interface?
