Stargate DC?

Has anyone ever used Stargate DC outside of Chicago? I went to their site www.stargate.com on accident (was looking for something else) but after I got there I decided to have a look see, they have a video up that you can watch that is a virtual tour, its a nicely done video actually. Just wondering what their service is like.

I love the TV Series, but I'll agree, the video is nicely done.

their claim for the "most power than any other datacenter".. .is false? 86k sq ft and only 12.5megawatts? the new crgwest building here has 15mw and is slated for 50-60k sq ft of floor space.

Are you in the midwest? note that was the key term.
Also, I used them for a registrar some years ago. If their support is anything like that, I would RUN as far away from that place as possible. Those people didn't have a clue what they were doing and had the worst customer service I've EVER experienced.

I've also gotta say, that's one of the nicer put together videos I've seen.

Ubiquityservers uses Stargate DC in Chicago. They might want to share their experience

I think they did a great job with the video, regardless of what their service is like, I don't recall seeing a video like that before, I was actually surprised, a lot of effort, time, and money went into that thing, and their facility looks nice. Ubiquityservers, could you chime in about them?

I have a rack there
StarGate DC is just amazing, is the most pretty and neat DC I have ever seen before, it really looks like a stargate.
There core business is to rent dc space to other providers, tech support depends more in your direct provider than dc staff, but I found DC staff very helpful and friendly
I have my rack with ubiquity and I'm very happy with both
Is not huge like 350 Cermak, where I was before, but is not small at all, and has free parking (a big plus in Chicago Area)

Nice comments, Datacenter1.Stargate is certainly a cool name for a DC. It'll be interesting to see who else chimes in with positive or negative thoughts on the DC.

It's definitely the nicest facility I've ever been in, I believe Gary Chaffin has actually won engineering awards for his design and implementation of the place. They actually calmed down the cooling a bit when Ubiquity was doing our move-in because the cold was that intense (and the main area was still mostly empty); no doubt it was built to handle the high power densities advertised on the site.
Not all that long ago the DC did sell to a start-up with lots of VC money called MDH (I personally preferred working with the Chaffin family, but it's not the end of the world as we don't really rely on Stargate for anything but the raw facility space). Stargate as a domain registrar was technically a different company (though in fairness, with some of the same ownership), I believe one of the first couple ICANN-accredited registrars, which was sold to uk2 (Ditlev's company ) sometime earlier.
As Datacenter1 mentioned, so long as you understand what segment of the market they're in (focused more on telco's and cages where companies have their own staff around the data center), you'll do fine. Regarding the techs that the Chaffin's had brought on there - I also agree - they're probably the closest match to what we've looked for in our own company, to a point it's almost a little scary. All super nice people that don't just have a lot of tech smarts, but crack a lot of jokes and are really the type of people you'd want talking to your clients as well. We definitely hope that MDH doesn't change that.
